I dont know. I just heard it one night on the way back cause i had them music off. I usually have it up pretty loud. To the point where you can't hear the noise it makes.

Actually I have a similar problem...I have a 2002 lx coupe..

and it does makes little whistle like sound....not loud....but if u stand beside the car u can hear it.....
I just thought coz the engine is SOHC that's why it's more noicy...I don't know.....I am probably wrong...does anyone else have that...the sound is not loud at all though,.....but just the whistle like sound bothers me..

Do you guys have stock air boxes? It might be the problem I had.... the seal where the air box connects to the other part (throttal body?...not too techy...sorry) may not have a total seal...found it when I changed my air filter....

good luck guys

I have a stock air box.. maybe its time to clean the filter? lol.. but it only happens at around 2500-3000RPM usually 2650-2700.. both in 2nd and 3rd gear.. not sure why..
And it only happens when the engine has been running for a while.. Do you think its an engine problem?

whistles usually imply air is going through a small space......I'm not any kind of car tech, but the is a problem with 2k1 air boxes sucking in a plastic piece... 2k2's should have had this resolved. This could be the increased air presure resulting from more working being done by the engine.

anyways... mine might be a different problem....I hear the sound when it is standing...when the car is at resat...not at 2000 rpm to 3000 rpm.....

but the sound is not that loud.....I don't know....

I have that same problem on mine. It seems like mine only does it when the engine is cold. Like when I start it up in the morning, or when it has been shut off for a few hours. I dont really notice it once I start to drive though. Its annoying though. Anyone know what that could be?

If you hear a hissing noise when you first start the car, it's the intake. I have AEM SRI and for the first one or two minutes I hear a "sss" noise. That's just the intake sucking in air, and it should go away once the car is warmed up.

Just a thought, you guys aren't hearing a tranny whine are ya? Did someone say they hear it when the car is standing still? If so, well of course its not the noise then. Mine has a bit of a whine, but thats normal.
