silly gas tank question

You could probably do it, but it would be square... unless you had some custom body work done to put a gas tank cover in. I assume you're talking about a riveted round cover like on the Audi TT. But I don't think that would look very good as a square piece like ours is.

It can be done. You will probably need to extend the gas tank feeder line a bit, bondo the square hole in the shape of a circle and have a popper latch installed correctly. To me it isn't a mod that is worth the money. You can always move the feeder line to the rear behind the taillight and bondo up that square, giving it a cleaner look.
