audible tick from denso plugs

audible tick from denso plugs

just had ik20s installed by a guy i know who has a socket. wondering why there is an audible tick now when i let the car idle. improper gapping?

No, the plugs are pregapped. They are so delicate that gapping them would cause damage. I think there are certain torque requirements when tightening them. If the guy doesn't know anything about spark plugs, he probably didn't install them right. This is why I haven't done this...too complicated for me.

And spark plugs shouldn't be ticking. Find someone who has the torque specs and knows how to install plugs. That should fix the problem.

must be the valves then, gotta wait 10k miles then get them adjusted

torque spec for spark plugs is 13 ft/lbs (as stated in the manual)

Are you serious??? I thought they weren't gapped...and I gapped mine properly and it seems to be fine...

platinum and iridium plugs are almost always pre-gapped, regular plugs are usually not....

Wow, valve adjustment already? You mean the push rods, right? We have the solid type, so they cause engine chatter after a while and should be adjusted every now and then. I have 14,000 miles on my car and I don't think I hear anything yet.
