How to jimmy rig a shift ****?
I'm a bit pissed with this, my MOMO **** came today, and I was thinking it had a rubber bushing that I could slide as far down the shift lever as I wanted and thus could have made it shorter than stock. Well, there are actually rubber caps that you put over the top of the lever and put set screws into that. So the lever will be about 1.5" LONGER than stock, which sucks. So, who knows how to rig something up? Can I just run a rubber hose down the lever then run the **** onto that? If so, where can I get rubber hose that will fit over the shift lever and still go in the ****? Anyone tried something like this before? What are the results? I'm not worried about the boot sagging, I got a MOMO boot too

I think people will be pissed at me when I say...

MOMO is good for one thing only. Steering Wheels! I hate their rims too. Overpriced.
Um... On to your dilema. Shift ***** from companies like Razo have a cone like plastic inside that you just screw into the stock thread pattern and it fits in perfectly. My sister has a Razo shift **** and hers came out a lit shorter than stock. I don't know exactly what that MOMO shift **** looks like, so I don't know what the solution to your problem is. Do you have a picture of it? That would help.

Ha.... All I have to do is cut the top out of the supplied grommet and slide it down the shaft as far as I want to go... I was surprised the store was open that late to help me out, but problem solved. Grey, Italian Style always comes at a price.
I had the same problem with my shifter but it didnt want to stay on either
so i devised a new plan
i took my shift **** and i got a cork from a wine bottle at work
and trimed it up where it fit tight and jammed it in the took a lot of work to get it in there tight
then i took my drill and started me a little whole and took it to my car and screwed it down
now i can twist my shift **** and it spins in circles but it wont pull up and off
it works great thats my DIY

No real jimmy rigging was needed. It comes with 5 rubber bushings. I put 1 on top of the threads, I slid another one down the lever to put the screws in. Thread the boot in. DONE. Worked like a charm.
