My mechanic's reply to some of my suspension noises

Dave, don't sweat the creaking noise; it's just the spring compressing and
putting pressure on the rubber and plastice coil covers on each end of the
spring. It is completely normal, and not a problem. The others probably do
it to some extent also, but b/c the one up front is closest to you and more
noticeable. As far as the other noise out back, I'm not sure. There again,
it is probably nothing to worry about. I say this because when you back out
to the left, the opposite wheel is torqued as one of the rear wheels is
higher than the other. If you can imagine when you back out, the inside
wheel drops down the driveway transition first, while the other is still
driveway level. The only thing keeping the two wheels somewhat tied is the
rear sway bar since you have independent rear. What you are hearing is
probably the result of the uneven wheels and the torque applied by the sway
is making creaking or maybe a popping noise as the bushings in the
suspension adjust to the suspension travel. You really only need to worry
about noises when the car is in motion, or making a very noticeable noise.
I don't think McGill could hae messed anything up for ya. Aight foo,
motorcycle time!! Shot me an email if you have anymore q's. Later
on...

My warranty is void pal. I have lowered my car on springs. That's where the noise is comming from. Sorry I forgot to mention that.

Also, this guy is not some kinda cracker jack mechanic. I've seen him dissasseble and assemble engines in his garage. I doubt you have done that before.

I was talkin to my machanic today. And he said he wont put coilovers on my car, because I will have problems with noise and what not.

If you have springs I dont know what to tell you.

One thing to look out for, I think the reccomended drop on our cars is 2.3 inc. If you go anything more than that, there is a chance that your struts might start to leak.

If you do have coil overs, check to make sure your adjustments are the same. Both back adjustments have to be the same and the same goes for the front. If your off by a little bit it can cause noise, and an uneven ride.
