RedLine *the reasons*

so far nobodys telling me what all i need to do they just keep tellin me swap swap swap. the reasons:

i've got the I/H/E already

everybodys dawgin the D17 and i want to see what it can do. SOHC dont scare me.

you can make a lawn mower do a wheeley you can make a D block perform.

with all my mod's i'm planning, couldnt i.......if i wanted to.......... shuve a nice amout of N2 into it without worries

our cars come 127 hp factory and thats 75 hp per liter......thats nothing to scuff at, the infamouse B series engine 100 hp per liter isnt to far off.

so far mods havent touched the power much this shows how well our engines are tuned from the factory and are still getting 35 mpg.

really how much is a swap? the engine anywhere between 3,000 and 5,000 i'm guessing....with tranny finding somebody who can do it and labor and.............it's a headache. i like our engines personally they may spin couterclockwise and may not be the most powerfull but the D block has been a tried and true engine by honda not just for reliability but tappable power as well. and if u guys dont wanna help u dont have to. sorry for just having an idea

Go to superhonda.com, listen in on the d16 all-motor guys talking, their block is the same as ours and the d16 parts will eventually come out for the d17. Once you see what you'll need, either go to a good machining shop or wait for the parts. Patience. And yes, all motor D blocks can perform, extremely well and extremely reliably, I have seen em with my own two eyes.... Peace

Hey ELT, can you explain how you came up with us having 75 per liter and B16's having 100 per liter?

Yeah, what he said........the guys on SHO are pretty knowledgeable and they will help you with any questions you have......as far as parts and labor are concerned, it will cost a pretty penny to build up the D17 properly. I have looked into this myself, and I decided to go primarily with bolt-ons(pullies, cam gear, plasma booster, etc.) until a company that I trust releases some good internals for our engines, which may still be a couple of years away. You can make an all-motor D-block respectable, but your best bet for power gains is just to use some form of FI.

Jon, its time for a lesson in basic math. 127 hp for the 1.7 liter D17. To find the HP output per liter we would simply divide the 127 hp by 1.7 liters...giving us 74.705882352941176470588235294118 hp per liter. Round that up to 75 to make us feel better. Same thing for the B16...they make 160 hp (99-00 Si Coupe) and are 1.6 liter engines...agian we do our simple math we learned in elementary school and come up with 100 hp per liter. YAY FOR SCHOOL!
