RedLine?????????
Hey everyone, I have a 2k1 civic auto. Sometimes when I floor it and my engine gets up to about 7000 RPM, redline, there is a grinding in the engine, not sure what does it. This doesn't always happen, but when it does, you can feel it and hear it just for a second. Does anyone have this same problem? If so, what causes it and does it mean there is something wrong with my civic?

Hmm I think any grinding sound comeing out of your engine is a bad thing!
Just don't do it as often anymore!
Oh BTW don't redline your car every other day
unless you want to visit your local shop every other day

Don't floor it to 7 then. When I floor my auto it goes to like 6.7 and shifts without the grind..rarely it'll hit redline... u passin the redline is a lil weird..I donno wha to tell u other than quit floorin it to redline.

Well I look at it this way
why would you want to "race" your car everyday this is putting alot of unesesary wear and tear on your vehicle It's just common sense you know?

i thought that it was ok to do that as long as you don't go to redline (which i can't do in an auto anyway). but i guess you're right.... i need to lay off my heavy foot before i go and screw something up.
our cars would be able to rev higher with new valves and valve springs and also a cam to produce more power at higher rpms. the bottom end is strong enough on hondas to rev high. my freind had a sohc del sol with a stock redline of 6800, he got a head with new springs valves and cam and reved it up to 9500 with no problems
I have a habit of revving my car up on a daily basis, so once I reach my first oil change I'm switching to synthetic. That way there won't be as much wear on the engine, and I can drive around town all day with a big grin on my face
.
. I was told the redline was just a suggestion to back off a little !!! ehehehehe j/k. Being in the red alot is no good espically on the new civic motor they really didnt build it that spectacular
