For one thing, your car will not move cause you do not leave it in gear, you leave it in neutral when you park it with the e-brake on. All you have to do it hook it up normal but you have to go to the switch that tells the computer when the clutch in pushed in and delete it. Just bypass it.

For the love of god, and the sake of your car, this is the one mod you should have done professionaly.
I've had my remote start for about 6 months now and i love it! You just cant leave the car in gear cause the starter will push against the brake ( because its weak as f*ck) and the car will start taking off without you. When i went to pick up my car i got all excited and pushed the button and the car took off and jumped a curb and crossed the street without me. Thankfully it ended up in an abandond lot across the street! But as i understand it the wiring is kinda complicated and getting the pastic molding around your wheel off is hard to do without breaking it. So if you can afford it, let the pro handle this one and let them take liability. The remote start really comes in handy when running from cops, (sorry quicksilver) picking up dates, warming up the car. Just be careful.

Well, if you wanna ghetto rig it, theres a button behind the clutch, just use some duct tape and tape it down, otherwise, find those wires and connect them together, close the circuit. Thats how your computer thinks the clutch is pushed in for start up. Its called your neutral-safety switch. I did it on my 84 Fiero, of course that was my beater and I couldn't care less about what happened to it.

A friend of mine just had an alarm/remote start put into her 93 Civ hatch. She's got a kit (molded), carbon fiber hood, engine swap, custom interior, nitrous, all bolt-ons, port and polished, etc etc...The shop that put the remote start on left it in gear and when she went to pick it up, they didn't tell her that, she started the car, and it ended up in a ditch, really, really beat up...Be careful.

I could explain how to make the remote start inactive when in gear, but unless you really now what you are doing, I would not recommend trying it. Best advice, if are going to put a remote start in a manual, always keep it in neutral and use the parking brake.

i guess i should have it done professionally but its illegal in nj and the only shop that is willing to do it i really don't trust them. Could you tell me how to dissable the remote start if its in gear so that when i geet it installed i could tell them how to do it. I have a feeling that if i tell them that there a way to dissable it they will not know how to do it.

I didn't think it was illegal. Either way I already have it with my compustar on my 5 speed and it works fine, never had a problem... they way it works is you have to leave it in neutral and put the parking brake on, then when you take the key out the car stays running, when you get out and shut the door, then the car shuts off which is cool beacuse I can here my intake when I get out!!! Anyways, then the remote start is active, and I can remote start it, If I open the door and close the door to get something out before i need to start it again, then remote start is disabled, If I do anything different while turning the car off such as leaving it in gear, or no parking brake, then the remote start is inactive. i would highly recommend a compustar, its a great alarm too with remote paging.
A friend of mine installed remote start on his 5spd car with switches in the console or something telling the alarm that the car was in gear and would not allow it to start in that case. That's what you need.
mine works just fine, i just followed the instructions that came with my alarm...check cliffords web page....If i installed it myself i'd beable to tell you waht to do, but the shop did it for me, so I really dont know....
Everything works fine, no problems at all, when my batt voltage gets low, I can even program it to start for a time period to charge it and turnoff again, its really cool!!
