Cutting the shifter
Has anyone ever cut the shaft of the shifter to make it shorter. I'm going to buy the short shifter adapter and save money by cutting the metal shaft of the shifter to make it look shorter. what did you use and size to retread the metal shaft of the shifter.
If you decide to cut the shifter you would have to re-thread it. To get that done you can either do it yourself if you know what size and type of thread you require using a die which you can pick up at any tool store. Second option take it to a machine shop. Guaranteed that they will have tools to do it and probably would not charge alot to do it.

Have you seen a bad cut job before? I have even seen people cut their shifters and weld on the threaded part. Both equally as dumb! You don't have to worry about re-threading it if you by an aftermarket shift ****! I wouldn't waste my time with an adapter or cutting, just go straight for the Revo Technia Short shifter. If that is too much money for you, at least try stiffening up the shifter with Kumo Sport Bushings first before you go and cut it.
