This is a WEIRD problem.....

Ok, this is not for me, its for a good family friend. She has a 2001 LX sedan. Recently she's been noticing this strange brown stain developing on her ceiling. She took it to the dealership, they had NO CLUE what it was so they replaced the ceiling panel. well, a week later it appeared again, so the car is there AGAIN. Still, no one has a clue what this is. Anyone else have this weird problem in their civic. Could it be some weird fungus (maybe its some fungus from japan. yea, its a crazy thought) something shorting out and burning (cant be a leak or a sunroof short since its an Lx). Anyway, any help or related experience is greatly appreciated since she's getting tired of bringing the car is every other week for this. alright, thanks. After replacing the ceiling panel did they notice anything underneath? It must be coming from somewhere. Maybe the metal panel underneath is stained with something and the vapors are making the ceiling panels turn brown? I'de replace that ceiling panel again, but I'de clean everything underneath before putting a new ceilng panel on.

Have you noticed the seals on the roof. The roof doesn't really flush with the side of the car so water can easily run down the edges and if those seals aren't sealing correctly then you're getting water in there. It's brown cuz it's old water which is also kinda nasty, does it smell? It happens rarely with Honda but she probably got a lemon. Sue those bastards! woo hoo, j/k. That's what I think it is, seen it happen before. Good luck!
