Miles per tank?
Ok, I've tried figuring this out myself, I've got a 4-dr LX Auto, and I generally get about 300 and above. Best I ever got was 375. I notice that if I use an injector cleaner every few fill-ups, it really increases the mileage. Once I get less than 300 miles on a single tank, I throw some injector cleaner in and that boosts it. And I generally fill up with 87 octane - the mid grade stuff. And the car's all stock, too. The way I drive, averaging 350 a tank is pretty good. I'm a bad-a$$ driver ..
But, I'm also curious, I've heard conflicting stories. If you get an intake and exhaust, does that boost your mileage, or reduce it? I wanna know what to expect for my gas budget ..

Us Civic owners are saving the gas price from raising. Good Job! Round on me

I only drive my civic when I am drunk, real drunk. So I don't care about the gas, just the police officer behind me! But on the real I drive the HX 5 speed and have about 8k miles on it rolling 100% stock besides ICE and PIAA upgrades. I am getting about 400-440 on 10-11 gallons. The record is a 50 miles/gal on a all highway trip. What's the word with the other HX coupes on the road.
I speed like crazy but i still get atleast 400 miles to the tank . i usualy put 12 gallons in at a time. for the last 2,000 miles i reset my trip meter every time i refill my tank to see what kind of mileage im running

Hmm.. I have an LX auto coupe, the highest I have ever gotten was about ~380, I have never reached 400. On average I usually have to fill up around ~340 miles on the tank.. so I guess I am about average with the rest of you, but I am happy with it
so hm...
what's the best way to drive a manual then??
I try to shift to the highest gear as quickly as possible
eg: 5th gear going 35mph
haha...
but I hear that doing that eats up a lot of gas
I read that if you're using manual you wanna stay in the lowest
gear as much as possible...
kinda like
1st gear: 25mph
2nd gear: 0-35mph
3rd gear: 35-45mph
4th gear: 45-55mph
5th gear: 55+

On a single tank, with 50% city /50% highway I can usually go about 340-360 miles and have to put a little over 10 gallons in my car. When I drive all highway miles, I usually need to get gas around 400 miles ( I've made it to 420 once, before the light came on). I've never had to put more than 11 gallons in my car.
I've noticed the following:
Pure highway driving: 38-39 mpg consistently (at least 8 tanks)
City/Highway mix: 32-35 mpg
I have yet to make < 30 mpg on my car (I have only 15k on it now).

The best driving style for fuel economy is moderate acceleration while avoiding stalling the engine (running within the power band and I'm not talking about your vtec power band for those who has it)
Think about it, the engine uses a richer mixture when accelerating than cruising ...
Keep tires properly inflated.
I have an manual LX and it gives me ~5.3-5.6L/100km if I drive conservatively (mostly highway) and 7L/100km if I drive agressively (or stop & go traffic) in summer.
Cruising speed doesn't seem to matter much as long as I keep it below 140km/h or so.

there is no reason to run anything other than regular, it's just a waste of money, no preformance OR efficiency gain. search for the thread "premium vs. regular" or something like that for more info.
I've gone about 30 or so miles on the highway after the fuel light came on. But, right about then I was wettin' my pants, so I stopped to fill up. I was in the middle of the boonies and I didn't wanna get stranded. The gas station guy was creepy. But yeah, an earlier post mentioned about 40. I know if I fill the tank to the brim, I can go about 50 miles before the needle starts going down, so maybe it's the same on empty, about 50 miles, but i woudn't wanna find out.
Also, You use up a lot more gas idling than you do starting, so if you have the choice, turn off the engine rather that lent it idle - I've noticed that really reduces mileage. Oh, and try some of that injector cleaner every few tank fulls, that has really helped me.

I PROMISE- the other day I got 398 miles on my car on that tank of gas. My car is stock so... And if it applies to any flamers shut the F*ck Up!!! You want proof? Come down to Dallas, Tx and buy me a tank of gas (avg. $13 here) and sit in my car for a week and then you'll believe me...
i have and ex auto, i mostly warm up my car for like 10 mins and do mostly city driving, i use the air and vent alot and i drive moderatly. i only get like 260 a tank, wht do u guys think is the prob
warming up your car - that 10 minute idle time is probably about 20 miles worth of gas. Seriously, I read somewhere - actually it was an ad in a movie theater, but that's not th point. It said on average, you use 1.6oz of fuel idling for one minute, and only about half an oz just starting the car. In the winter time I'd warm up the car and the mieage would drop, but in the summer you don't really need to, and that'll give significant gains.
Also, has anyone else noticed (maybe) an increase in fuel efficiency by driving like a maniac? 'Cause I have. It's weird. The dumber I drive, the better mileage I get. Go figure

Maybe it's a bit late for this info, but I've been wondering what other people get so... I usually get between 350-375 miles per tank. (I have a 5-speed EX.) I refill either right one 'E' or just one that last tick mark before 'E.' Of course, I guess it all depends on where you live and the traffic you experience and where you have to go and what you have to do and if you downshift and what you're carrying and whatnot.. Or something. Yeeeeeeeah.
