I noticed that I cant turn on my foglights without having my H4 headlights on, is there a way to disable that feature?

one more thing, if you turn on your highbeam, the foglights turn off, does anyone know how to disable that too?

I hate that!

I think it's illegal to have both foglights and high beams on at the same time, but i'm not sure [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/IMG][IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/IMG]

You have to rewire the fog light relay to come on with the parking lights. In original form, they're supposed to be wired to the low-beams. I have mine wired to the parking lights and I can use the fogs with just parking lights, low-beams, or high-beams. Legally I don't think you're supposed to use them with high-beams, but it gives great illumination on dark country backroads.

okay now....I dont think cops are gonna notice that you have your Highbeams and your foglights on at the same time....

plus cops are more worried about you speeding than haveing foglights on....

so from those words....does anyone have a detailed description in how to

wire the foglights to the parking lights instead? :-)

isnt there a DIY somewhere floating around?

i don't see what's so illegal about having fog lights on whilst using high beams. i mean, you're supposed to turn off your high beams when there's oncoming traffic anyways....when there's no other traffic wouldn't you want as much light as possible (ie. high beams w/ fogs)?

fogs are meant to be used with high beams, but only when there is no on-coming traffic of course. the idea is to have maximum light output - the high beams for distance and the fogs for near and wide.

true....hm....i'm gonna point my foglights more up..I dont really like seeing that shed of light

Trust me....if cops can spot that you have an expired inspection sticker on the corner of your windshield, they will notice when you have your high beams on with your fog lamps..

Fog light, being close and wide, does not have the reach of a normal low beam. Not in terms of legality, fog light, IMHO, is "OK" if driving slow in adverse weather conditions. Keep in mind fog lights are not far reaching enough for highway speeds.
Not only that, the fog light will result in bright light reflected from nearby object and drown out far away hazards you should have seen at a distance. (Which you dangerousely assume you can see well with the high beam + fog light combo)
Ideally, you want to balance the light pattern so that near objects will not prevent your "finite visual dynamic range" from working on the far-away, dim-lit objects you actually need in high speed driving.

Granted only 4 headlights are allowed on streets, you have to think whether you want to turn on a pair of driving light or fog light.
Fog lights are designed to complement low beam and driving lights are designed to complement the high beam.

The easiest way to do this is to pull out your fog light switch and find the wire that has 12v+ when you turn the head lights on (low beam) and no voltage when the head light are off or in High beam, now cut this wire and attach a wire that has 12v+ ignition or 12v+ when the parking lights are on (if you use the ignition you can have fog lights without parking or head lights, if you use the parking light they will only work when the parking lights are on) These wires can be found in the fuse box along the top there are 5 plugs that will accecpt female spade plugs ( they go like this /plug 1 is 12v constant/ plug 2 is 12v ignition/ plug 3 is parking lights/ plug 4 not used/ plug 5 not used/ but double check all of these first!!!!!)now take this wire and attach it to the switch side of the wire you cut and insulate the other side, and youre done....another thing you can do is Relay the output of the switch to make the foglights brighter!!!!
