Hi guys. Just bought an 2005 Civic and need to know how to make it faster
Re: Hi guys. Just bought an 2005 Civic and need to know how to make it faster
You don't make a over a 150k a year. If your going to exaggerate be reasonable, then at least it might be a bit believable.
People who make over 150k a year don't tune civics, they realize how much of a waste it is; they don't try to find the cheap way to do things, because they know cheap inevitably costs more; they don't randomly offer to buy random things from people online, without a least knowing what a fair retail price is; they don't ask questions that could be answered with five minutes research; and they generally have much better grammar.
More than likely, your some dumb kid who still lives with your parents.
If money really isn't an issue, just buy an M3.
Go away troll.

We aren't being asses. It's just illogical to dump oodles of money to make a Civic "fast". You asked for advice and you received it. The handful of people on here are always very helpful. The way you introduce yourself on this forum, or any forum for that matter will usually dictate how you are perceived. Plain and simple. Plenty of people come on here asking the same questions over and over again, and the few good people on here still have no issue helping out. I had no issue asking questions on here, which is why I frequent the site now.

I run the risk of typing yet another very lengthy post trying to get everyone to shut the hell up, so youve been warned.
Basically, dude, this question gets asked a lot, we arent going to spoon feed you such a broad, and general question. We ask you to search because the info youre looking for is on this site and theres no reason to repost it for you.

but really, cheap and best aren't the words you should expect to find next to each other when looking to upgrade your car. you'll typically get exactly what you pay for (or at least whatever someone paid for it)

first off the few people who have been talking to you ARE the forum, or at least some of it's most helpful members.
as they have said we've posted this question 100000000000000000000 plus times.
but since i'm newer and havn't directed someone i'll help with what little i know. but in the future search your question first.
first it would be nice to know what civic you have.
if you have the the non-vtec engine your engine will be a d17a1 (around 110 hp)
if you have a vtec (which i'm guessing you don't because you said you sold the miata cause it looked like a kids car, which mean you probably have a four door and none of them have vtec engines stock), then your engine is a d17a2 (around 127 hp)
there's also the civic si with a k20 (i think the 05 was arround 160-180hp, the new one's are up around 200 in the rsx's) <best civic engine and posibley the greatest four banger ever made.
at this point you'll probably want to know what vtec is. as far as i know when you're driving "normally" like under 4500rpm and not in WOT (wide open throttle), you have one cam profile. after you put your foot down the electonics using the vtec system switch over to a more agressive cam profile.
now that you know your engine you'll want to search for parts to fit this engine.
the cheapest way to make power is a nitrous kit.
the most reliable is a k20 swap (if you have a d class engine)
and the mid point is a turbo kit (imo).
the best would be a k swap (d17 for a k20), plus turbo.
so now i'd suggest you search this site or google for what you'll need for the build you want to see.
NONE of these will be cheap! all of them will cost you probably more then you paid for the car, except nitrous... but if done wrong that'll cost you the car.
once you've done some research return here for finalisations like "which injectors fit best" or questions about internals (ie: internal engine parts like performance pistons)
best of luck and DON'T come back until you research a bit, thx

Re: Hi guys. Just bought an 2005 Civic and need to know how to make it faster
Only if you go 88MPH, but you also have to install a flux capacitor in your electrical system. I think you have to tap it off of the ignition coils.. or was it straight up to the alternator? I don't quite remember. I've also heard that if you solder the flux capacitor directly to the ELD, it'll work, too, but that's more of a permanent installation. You'd have to get a new ELD if you wanted to upgrade to a more efficient or more powerful flux capacitor in the future.

He doesn't even drive a civic. He is here to get people stirred up and it's working. Where are the mods that control these forums? It's taking forever to close off these threads and ban people. Spam and Trolls are taking over and it's hard to tell which posts are genuine and which are not. I just came back from a couple month leave myself and it's gotten so much worse.
No wonder all the knowledgeable people are gone.

Feed the troll! Feed the troll!
1. If you were looking to get a fast car, DONT buy honda, or get a RWD like S2000
2. Even if you did make that kind of money, you wouldnt be cheaping out, and no one gives a chit.
3. Civics are kid cars as well
4. If you did make that much money, go ask a professional mechanic/tuner, they will give you the same exact responses you are getting here (meaning, swap/turbo or nothing)
5. Cheaping out is the best way TO waste money, because problems arise from cheaping out, especially in a car
6. Grow a pair, seriously. This forum has done nothing but give you direct and reliable information, so don't get cocky with us.

honda makes perfectly fast cars. rsx with the k20.
and if u put a turbo on it, its just as fast as cars 2x its price. right?

Re: Hi guys. Just bought an 2005 Civic and need to know how to make it faster
Honda makes relatively fast cars, yes, but they pale in comparison to the performance cars other manufactures produce. Lets not forget, the C32B V6 NSX only produced 290bhp; the current WRX Sti produces between 305hp-394hp, depending on the exact model, with an H4.
I love Honda, but they build cars for reliability.

Jesus christ, it's just some fat kid trolling the forums trying to **** you guys off. I'm guessing he doesn't own a car and probably has never even held a socket wrench in his life. Stop arguing with him and he'll go back to eating his cheetos and move onto a new forum.

So how much does all that stuff cost? The nitrous sounds very promising and I'll take your advise re: the performance pistons.
TIA,
