Re: engine helpp
Did you gap the plugs correctly or just go with the "pre-gaped"? Just because it was pre-gaped at the factory doesn't mean that when it gets to you it's still gaped right.

Re: engine helpp
no i went with the pre-gaped. I should have checked though. I live in a small town of 26,000 so we only have o'Reilly auto parts and Napa.
Re: engine helpp
I think my statement was ignorant. When I changed my plugs the first few times on my old car, I didn't have a feeler gauge. When I changed them, they had signs of normal wear. I'll keep this in mind for my next tune-up. I have a lot of new tools for class, and a set of feeler gauges is one of them. I thought that a lot of copper plugs needed to be regapped. I just check to make sure they aren't damaged or anything like that.

Re: engine helpp
Ah. Okay. I'd still say get yourself a good gauge just to be on the safe side. I'm learning stuff every day from the amigos on this site, so I wanna pass down their info too
. My NGKs are iridium and they said they didn't need to be gapped, but still. Ya never know. Im gonna check mine soon just to make sure they're in spec though. I just heard they're really brittle because of the IR and need to be careful.

It says my gap is 1.3 mm or .050" . I can't find a gauge that goes that high. Anybody know where I can get one?
*edit*: found one on Amazon.

Re: engine helpp
well once when i changed my plugs i thought i clipped all the electric connectors back in as far as they could go, but one wasn't fully in. my CEL came on. after i pushed the clip in fully the light went off. you could check them. i'd suggest putting the original plugs back in. you already know they work fine, so if the CEL stays on then you know it's something other then the plugs.
Re: engine helpp
I just got what I told you off of alldata. Keep in mind I have a B16A2 engine.
Check this out:

That goes with what I just told you. I also just checked under my hood, which I totally forgot about and it's 1.3mm, so I had the right gap.

Re: engine helpp
Well I asked if anyone knew where I could get a feeler gauge for my car since the topic was already brought up in this thread and most of the more common gauges only seem to go up to around .045''. I know his car had a different one.
Re: engine helpp
Sorry man, didn't mean to sound like a dick. Guess we had a communications breakdown. Take a look at the pic and tell me which one you are talking about.
Top one is a gap tool I got at O'reillys for $1.79. It was on the counter next to the register. It goes from .020-.080inches in .001 increments and metric on the back. In my opinion it is the best bang for your buck.
Middle one is a gap tool (inches and metric) I got here: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...p17=k-d%202327 Those thingies on the end are really good for widening the gap but in my opinion not worth the money(although it's a lifetime warranty).
Bottom one is a feeler gauge (metric only) I got here: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...op17=k-d%20161 You can stack this one for any gap you need but you can't use it to widen the gap on a sparkplug very well. Lifetime warranty too.

Re: engine helpp
It's all good man. I figured that's what had happened. I tried to go back and edit my post to say that there was some type of breakdown, but PoS Chrome kept freezing
I ended up getting the center one. Thanks for the info though.
