Car won't start...battery ok, starts with boost
Hi all, I just found this forum and think it's pretty awesome this is here.
Unfortunately, I found it due to car problems, but what matters is I found this site.
Hoping you could help out.
I have a 2006 Civic DX
I was unable to start my car the other day...got a boost and all seemed ok. I stopped for a coffee and again it would not start. I was able to get a boost again and managed to drive it home (150 kms). I had to turn off the ac as it seemed to be causing some issues (red light came on periodically) and my radio was not working either (asking for code). I have not been able to get to my car until today and still it wouldn't turn over. I removed the leads on the battery and cleaned the posts...still nothing.
I now started noticing a green key light come on and figured it was due to the radio code. I thought this may have caused the car to keep me from starting it. I entered the code, crossed my fingers and turned it over....nothing. all lights are coming on but the car won't turn over.
I tried a couple of times and it started asking for the code again.
Unsure what might be the problem. it will start with a boost but not otherwise...battery tests as ok.
Any ideas? suggestions- before I take it in?
your help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Car won't start...battery ok, starts with boost
The radio code is triggered by the battery dying, thats definitely not whats preventing the car from starting. You mentioned a red light coming on, what red light specifically? My first guess would be the alternators not charging the battery.
Re: Car won't start...battery ok, starts with boost
thats my guess either ur alternator is bad or the battery. when the car is running connect a volt meter to it and u should get 14.2 volts anything less ur alternator is bad

But if the car will not crank but will from a jump then its either the battery or the alternator.
Re: Car won't start...battery ok, starts with boost
Almost similar thing happened with my friend's civic. His power windows, wipers and radio would turn on but car wouldn't start.
If the alternator goes you will be stuck in the middle of nowhere, everything will die all at once. Nothing will work not even your lights. Also the car needs maximum cold cranking amps when you start.
You need a new battery, period.

I agree with the majority of the opinions. Check your battery first and foremost with the car running. If that checks out, then move to the Alt. If that too checks out, I would suggest checking all the fuses, all the relays, and all the ground points.
Hope I could be of any substantial help! Good luck tracing the problem!
Oh and pics and/or vid would be of a great help for us to properly diagnose the problem.
