b16, b18 swap. what else do i need?
so i kinda messed my d15b8 motor... and my buddy said hes willing to sell me his b16 or b18 motor for 200 when he gets his gsr. what else would i need besides the motor? i have a 94 civic cx hatchback
Re: b16, b18 swap. what else do i need?
Ecu, wire harness, motor mounts I think, and depending on what motor it is then maybe the shifter assembly and shift cables. What motor is he going to sell to you.
Re: b16, b18 swap. what else do i need?
not too sure yet, i think he has both.. no clue to be honest.. but hes always getting new cars and swapping stuff and selling so idk.. which one is better would u say? and is my transmission going to hold up to a bigger engine? and will i need to get it tuned or anything after>?
Re: b16, b18 swap. what else do i need?
The b18 will probably be better it just depends on what he has. And if you are talking bout putting your tranni on it then it will not work. You will need a b series tranni to fit on it. And no tunning will be needed especially if you get the right tranni for the motor.
Re: b16, b18 swap. what else do i need?
The b16 he has maybe the b16a2 from the em1. Not to sure though cause all the b16's are vtec. The b18 I am pretty sure its the b18b1 or LS motor. The ls is a very known motor and very popular. But you should ask him what is the engine code on them so you would now. And yes you would need a new tranni with it.
Re: b16, b18 swap. what else do i need?
those are them, and hes sayin he'll gimme everything tranny , ecu, wiring harness, shift assembly, shift cables. hes only askin 200 for whichever one i want.. im guessing good deal?
Re: b16, b18 swap. what else do i need?
ok so i bought the b18b1 engine today. but i dont get it until next week and my buddies going to help me swap it out. is it very difficult and alot of technical work? do i need a new axle ?
Re: b16, b18 swap. what else do i need?
No its not to hard. The most time comsumming part is switching out the wire harnesses and thats not to hard just takes time. Putting the motor in is the easy part. Just drop it in bolt it up and hook up all the connectors. And not to sure bout the axles.
