The road trip machine
I use my five-speed 2001 LX to drive all over the place... I drive the 8.5-10 hours from Pittsburgh to Boston a few times a year, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. I road trip all the time, and I love the Civic for it because of the insane fuel mileage I get. I have a friend with a Vanagon Westfalia and I envy all the clever little gadgets in it... I want to do the same sorts of things with my Civic.
What I'm trying to think of now is what I can do to this car that is relatively inexpensive (no more than $100-150 per component) to make this car the ultimate road-tripping machine.
Examples of things I've started plans to do so far:
I have ordered a 5-gallon water bag, and will store it in my trunk inside a frame with a weight atop it and run a tube to the A-pillar on the driver's side, on which will be mounted a spigot with a squeeze-operated valve. Poor man's running water. No more filling bottles out of gallon jugs and splashing everywhere.
I have ordered a set of roadbags. An effective means of relieving one's self while driving, so long as it's liquid waste.
Installing a Yakima roof rack system to haul more junk (especially my hang glider.)
Anyone here have ideas for cool/creative interior or exterior mods or gadgets to make this car the ultimate road-tripping compact? Being able to brew coffee while driving would be awesome.

I'm gonna have to say no on the bag of **** too dude, wtf? Just hold it till the gas station.
No road trip machine is complete without movies. Go on ebay and find something like this:
GPS, 7" screen, throw some movies on an SD card, run it with the car charger and you're in movie heaven without worrying about illegally hooking anything up to run while driving.

Oh, the point of the roadbags, I suppose I didn't make that clear. They contain something that turns it into gel so it's not nearly so offensive. But whatever, that's not really important to the question anyway.
Movies on SD is a brilliant idea, actually. And yeah, GPS is a must, it'd be cool to build it all into an integrated system.

Strange is sort of what I'm going for... Looking for creative ideas. Determined not to be just some guy with a body kit and a fart can on his Honda. I'm trying to take the car in a different direction and make something legitimately unique.

LOL! Shakakan! LOL! Me and my roommate are rollin.
It's a coffee can, not a fart can, get it right. lol
I always wanted to put one of these in my back window:
What about sound activated lights? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mu-9GV5WKf4&feature=fvw

The LED Display is another good one. Except I think I'd program it to say things that were really unkind to people, and end up getting myself shot or something. I'm sort of an aggressive driver, despite the weak acceleration of the LX.
