95 civic lx 1.5L rough idle
95 civic lx 1.5L rough idle
Hi, i have 1995 honda civic lx 1.5L w/manual trans, D15b7 motor. Just a few months ago i replaced the clutch my self. which was a tough job seing as how i couldnt take the wheels off. The verry next day the engine started to run rough and the engine light was on. i checked the code by jumping the data connector under the passanger kick pannel. came up with cyl 1 position sensor among others. found that the magnet broke in half.
I just recently replaced the whole distributer which as you know houses the cyl1position sinsor and a few others. i start the car and the engine still runs rough. BUT The engine light is not on any more.
i have read around on many forums that give many solutions. None have helped me so far but just cost me money.
Here are some of the things i have tried
replaced cap, rotor, wires, and plugs(twice).
i read on 1 forum that said to romove the intake, inside the intake i would find two holes(i did). i was told to put my finger over the bottom hole and there shouldn't be any vacume on that hole (there is). it said that i had to replace the IACV. i removed it and found that the screen was slighty cloged so i cleaned it and then proceded to test the IACV. when i applied power to it, it made a click sound like the forum said it should do if it was still good.
I put it back on and it still idles rough.
the forum said to cover both holes and if the engine bogs down and dies then my FITV is bad. it said that i either had to replace it or take it off of the bottom of the TB by removing three screws and inside i would find a plastic screw and that i had to screw it all the way in. Does any body know what an FITV is cus i never heard of it before now?
BTW i have not done this yet.
BTW when i bought the car the radiater fan was jerry riged to a switch by the shifter. I wired it back up the way it is supposed to be but it never comes on, so i put it back to the switch. Does anyone know what is wrong with that?
Ok, so this is what it is doing.
i start it and it runs rough at idle almost like it is missfireing, and i hear a sputtering from the exaust like i have a valve adjusted to tight.
the engine runs fine above 1,000 rpm, but when i drive it, its like some of the power is gone. the belt could have jumped a tooth but it looks almost brand new.
It feels like im leaving something out, But can anyone help me?
Thanks, Patrick

Re: 95 civic lx 1.5L rough idle
Thank's but I dont think you read that paragraph carefully enough, because I said it was under the TB, and that you had to remove 3 screws to get it off.
BTW, I got a timing light and checked the timing, and it was good. The cam gear didnt jump a gear. I drove it around some yesterday and the engine light came on with code 43. (43, vacume leak/ fuel pressure regulater) So i checked the FPR and it was good, Checked for vacume leak's, good there.
so I replaced the O2 sensor and the light went out.
The car is running good now but my idle is to high, around 1500rpm, and it still has power loss some were. so i need to turn that down and i should be good to go.
Thanks for the help guys!!!!!!!
