CVT problems

CVT problems
Hey guys newbie here, I recently bought a 1997 Civic HX coupe with a CVT tranny. The clutch pack was going out so I replaced it with a Honda rebuild kit....thing.....
So, a friend of mine who is familiar with Hondas and what not helped me do the repair....it was easy as heck to be quite honest....but of course there is another issue.
With everything back together, filled the tranny with cvt fluid etc etc.....I started the car and when I put it into reverse or drive, the car stalls. It feels like a manual when you pop the clutch.....kinda weird!
So, any ideas?
