Smile Automatic Transmission Shift **** Help

In my 1999 ex i decided to see if i could replace the original shift ****. since it's an automatic and being a '99 it has the safety button that you have to push in order to get your car out of park. I have removed everthing and was going to install the new **** but wasn't sure how i could disable the safety button meaning make it so i can go from park to drive just by sliding the shifter? any body have any ideas?

Re: Automatic Transmission Shift **** Help

I don't think there is. Why would you want to do that though? I think that lockout is there to prevent any misshifting of the automatic in the event you need to go into neutral for an emergency.

Re: Automatic Transmission Shift **** Help

Hi Austin: did you get a new shift **** yet? I have the same car you do, but when I bought it the **** was broken... and I don't know what aftermarket kind that fits. Ideally, I would like to have the original. If you want to sell yours, let me know!

And if anyone out there knows what **** fits this car, please let me know. It's automatic, with two screw holes... it seems like the majority of these ***** are three screws.

Thanks!
