Looking to replace the manifold/cat
Looking to replace the manifold/cat
First, I'll start off with my car's stats and setup. I'm driving an '04 DX 2-door 1.7L, 5-speed manual.
I've installed a K&N short ram intake and a Tanabe Medallion Touring catback exhaust (2.36 in. diameter pipe).
So right now I'm trying to replace my exhaust manifold, but I don't want to lose the cat, since that'll blow my emissions testing. Obviously I could buy a header and cat and take it to a shop to do some welding, but if I can avoid that I'd love to. I personally have no welding experience or equipment, so I guess I'm looking for bolt-on solutions, if there are any. I've found one manifold/cat combo (http://www.procivic.com/pages-produc...827/index.html), but I'm not sure if this is the best option. Money's not a huge issue here, but obviously if I can get a really good part for less I'm all for it. If necessary, I'll probably just give in and buy two the separately and take it to a pipe and muffler shop to get it welded. Does anyone have any knowledge about this part? Or suggestions of others?
My other question is about whether or not replacing all this is even a good idea. I'm already running an exhaust that's a touch large for my engine size, so I don't know if changing out this part will benefit me or cause me to lose so much positive pressure that my low RPM power severely drops off. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Converting to an EX exhaust setup is another option. You'd have to either extend your O2 sensor wires or get O2 sensor wire extension harnesses. I don't know how that'd mate up with your tanabe exhaust system though
