lx to ex headswap w/afc quick questions
hey got my headswap done at a shop. I have my afc neo installed and its quite the cool little unit. ive been running it for around 2 months on just a stock motor and been playing around with it. My car will be ready from shop tomorrow after they installed the new head (a2 head with pnp job and crower stage 1 cam). I have 2 issues. I have not ran the vtec wire yet because I didnt want my mechanic to worry about it. Will this be a problewm for driving it home? its an lx so the car shouldnt throw any codes about no vtec connected but what is going to happen when the vtec head gets going without any vtec controller? will this get worse with the crower cam? Also does anyone know where i can get a good ecu tune with this. no point in trying to tune on afc cuz ecu will compensate after a while. i want to get max power from this

Re: lx to ex headswap w/afc quick questions
you can drive it just fine, you just wont hit vtec. it'll probably feel really sluggish. You may need to try and adjust the idle, though there isn't much you can adjust with the afc. im guessing you're just going to have the neo control vtec, as the stock lx ecu doesn't provide a vtec output. And im afraid youve got the tuning thing backwards, the ecu will learn to some extent, but your tuning will be done all through the afc. Keep in mind any changes you make with the neo pretty much only make a difference at WOT, any changes you make on the neo wont really make a difference since the ecu will compensate almost instantly to the changes. The biggest thing you have adjust ability of is vtec engagement. For it to truly run right, youd have to run a vtec ecu or hondata kpro.
