Transmission Problem.. HELP!!!!
OK there is something wrong with my tranny and im not sure what the exact problem is and i really dont wanna take it anywhere to spend money just to take it apart to figure it out.. Heres the problem: When i start to drive off it sounds find until arond 2500 RPMs it sounds like something is opening up somewhere.. Like it just gets loud all of a sudden.. When i slow down i can hear this loud whining noise and never done that before ever.. Not sure if my clutch is going bad.. It could also be my throw out bearing or maybe my input shaft bearing.. Im not good with transmissions so i dont touch them.. Anybody got any ideas?
Re: Transmission Problem.. HELP!!!!
if its a loud whining sound its the clutch (and all part for the clutch) but unless someone who knows can hear it theres no telling try getting it flushed and top off any oils good luck bro
Re: Transmission Problem.. HELP!!!!
If you have no loss in clutch effectiveness im not thinking pressure plate or the clutch plate itself im leaning towards the bearings, mine went but it made more of a grinding noise like mixing cement. Sounds like your probably going to have to pull your tranny off or spend some money

I know this thread is a little old, but I was having the exact same issue, Honda05. To add to it, at idle with the car in neutral and the clutch pedal released, it sounded like a tiny helicopter was trapped under my dash, lol, almost like a cement mixing sound that would go away as soon as I pressed the clutch pedal in. I got some good info from this thread:
https://www.civicforums.com/forums/3...save-some.html
Be warned, my 05 coupe only had 42K miles when the input shaft bearing failed. I took it to the dealer since I have an extended warranty and they said I needed a new clutch+throwout bearing, and the work would cost $1200. I declined service of course and had a mechanic friend of mine install a new clutch and throwout bearing, since he agreed with the dealer's diagnosis. Well, the noise didn't go away after the new clutch.
I took the car back to the dealer, pretty furious that I had just wasted $650 for my mechanic to install a new clutch I didn't need. Bingo-bango, two hours later they called and said the input shaft bearing needed to be replaced. They just wanted to hose me for a $1200 clutch replacement job, since clutches aren't covered under warranty.
Sorry for the rambling, save yourself some trouble and have whatever shop you go to listen to the transmission with a stethoscope, and they will hear the bad input shaft bearing easily. They've got to pull the tranny apart which is about 8 hours of shop labor, so it's gonna cost you anyhow....
