98 civic won't run!!!!!!!!
Hi all in the forum. I have a 98 civic lx that I am working on it came in not running. I was told it just died while driving no signs or lights. I have spark,Ihave compression 1=150 2=150 3=165 4=140 Ialso have fuel pressure @40psi on start of key and it is holding. Still won't fire and there are no codes in the computer. Does anyone have any suggestions or has this happened to any of you. Thank you in advance for your help.

dead battery? sounds stupid but it's happened to me.
Check all the fuses just for ***** and giggles. Often the simplest answer is the solution.
Loose ground? when I relocated my battery to the trunk the ground point I used came loose and the car ran off the battery and eventually died at a light. All my accessories powered up but the actual car wouldn't crank. Corroded terminals and such will do it.
main relay? There is a thread somewhere I think on honda-tech on how to check the main relay with a multi tester. Search for it on google I can't remember where I saw it or id shoot it to you. That will cause the car to cut off and not come back on.
Bad ecu? is there another one laying around you can try?
What does the car actually do when you try and start it? Only think I can think of at 4:20 in the morning that would cause the car to shut off is the main relay or the ecu.
Keep us posted.

Car just turns over and over and over etc.... if I move the spark plug wires around it will pop and fart and try to start. but with the the timing in the right positions it does as I said just turns over and over. timing belt is new and dead on by the book TDC is perfect. and injectors all have pulse. totally frusterated with this car!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe the injectors aren't opening. I had this same exact problem with my friend's CRV. Try another main relay and see what happens. If the pump is building pressure that's cool. But if the injectors aren't opening then you won't get a start. The main relay controls that, in addition to the ecu. If the main relay is fine then the ECU may be fried. See if you can locate another ECU from a junk yard or from another running vehicle and see what happens. Can't hurt to try.
Re: 98 civic won't run!!!!!!!!
figured it out finally !!!!!!!!!! Even though I had spark it wasn't good enough there are 3 spark factors the civics have. the crank trigger which was good, the coil and the igniter which were bad. I guess I'm old school have spark and gas car should run. no not Honda have 3 levels of spark and fuel then we run. Thank you to all for the suggestions. I guess I am now a certifiable Honda mechanic LOL...
