Re: Coolant Questions

Undo drain **** on radiator
On the bottom of the block there is a bolt next to oil filter undo that
then if you want u can pull the resiviour and clean that as well. then tighten everything up and refill. When u refill make sure u do it with the front end up so u get no air pockets. Best to do with car started and heat on.

Re: Coolant Questions

just do drain and fill unless your coolant is over 10 yrs old and has brown stuff in it. i doubt it tho the honda coolant is really good. might as well change the radiator hoses and thermostat too while you have it drained.

Re: Coolant Questions

What are the steps in draining/refilling coolant?
Do I just put the car on 2 jack stands, unscrew radiator plug, then take reservoir off and clean, then refill? I think i heard somewhere to make sure the car is cold when doing it.

-Thanks

Re: Coolant Questions

thats it, also undo the drain bolt to get the coolant out of the engine head. the coolant bolt is very close to the oil drain bolt. put everything back and fill the radiator to max, then fill the overflow tank. start car with radiator cap off, warm up to normal operating temp by revving the engine to 3k rpms. turn the heater and fan on full and watch as bubbles come out the radiator. keep adding coolant to keep the level at the top. when bubbles stop, turn car off and put the cap on. done.

Re: Coolant Questions

its not a huge deal, most of the coolant will be drained anyway. a lil bit of old stuff shouldnt hurt. but the bolt is very close to the oil drain bolt.
