What kind of battery?
What kind of battery do you guys recommend? I think I'm up for one, at least soon. I'm also wondering if your terminals are tappered. The original owner put in a valuecraft battery and because of the taper, the contacts only wrap around the bottom. Is that normal because that seems lame.

Re: What kind of battery?
go to autozone and buy the yellow top duralast batter.....they are wonderful. plus a 3 year free replacement warrenty.....which ive already replaced once because i accidently tipped my batt over... (just as powerful in cranking amps and Cold cranking amps)
as for optimas, they are really unnecessary and way too expensive... they are a dry cell battery which means they can be flipped upside down and still work... otherwise, there is no real reason to get it for a daily driver.

Re: What kind of battery?
based on experience and alot of other peoples problems, i would steer clear of optimas, even if you somehow find one thats not over 2 yrs old. stick with a lead acid battery with good cca. the highest ive been able to find is an autocraft titanium from advance auto with 500cca (stock is 420). so far its been doing good. the honda dealer also has a group51 size battery with 500cca, if your car takes that size. otherwise you can go bigger, but it wont be a perfect factory fit using the battery box and tray. get one that is serviceable so you can pop off the covers and add distilled water over time to keep the levels at max. when you get the battery, check the date and try to find a fresh one not older than 2 months. usually its a small round sticker with a date like 12/08 for december 2008.

Yes, autocraft, I think we have one of those stores here. I did a forum search and supposedly autocraft batteries were rated number 2, but I didn't see the results or anything. What did you pay for yours?

Re: What kind of battery?
usually autozone products suck in my experience lol. and i dont think we have advance auto in reno. i got mine back in IL with a credit from the last battery i killed. it was maybe $90 but after the credit i think i only paid $75. i had autocraft silver and it lasted two years and died because i never checked the electrolyte and it had fallen below the plates and killed the battery. im much better at checking it now lol.

Re: What kind of battery?
most batteries will have those "caps" that look like they pop off. its the ones with all the white warning labels on them. then you can see the cells and hopefully the electrolyte levels. they should be filled but leave about an inch of space from the top so it doesnt spill. i think interstate makes honda batteries but not totally sure. i dont know who sells autocraft around here. there wont be too much difference, just make sure you get one with a bit higher cca than stock and preferably a 3 yr free replacement warranty.
