Maintenance Question

My 2007 Honda Civic EX has about 16,000 miles on it. I know the factory recommended schedule is for oil change etc at 15,000. However my maintenance minder shows oil % left at 40%. The same thing happened at 5K and 10K service (the oil level was at 40%). Should I wait till the lights come on or should I get the maintenance at the 5k, 10k, 15k intervals?

Re: Maintenance Question

the maint. minder goes by your individual driving habits. we always recommend changing every 5K regardless of maint. minders.

Re: Maintenance Question

My GFs' 08 will get its first oil change at 5k probably next month. Isnt OEM Honda oil semi-synthetic? if so I dont think it would be a problem using that or something better and sticking to the MM system. I will stick with 5k miles using cheap dino oil though untill it becomes cost effective to do otherwise

Re: Maintenance Question

maybe they changed then, older one from few years back was the exxon regular stuff. our dealership here actually uses castrol tho for oil changes they get it in bulk, not the lil bottles that say honda.
