Re: wtb a cheap civic
^ paid too much IMO
Civics are everywhere, just drive around for 20 minutes and I am sure you will find one that fits you.
What do you have in mind? K swap, B series, 5 spd, auto?

These are all things you gotta take into consideration. That's why it's easy to sell a car to a girl, because they look at the pain and the interior, and glance at the engine, and the deal is done. For 4500K, that **** better be garage kept. Although I didn't express my anger at my friend, I should have. He's an intelligent guy but it's like... what the **** were you thinking!? He gave me the impression that it was in near excellent shape. At the time, it was in fair shape!
It's all good though, everything happends for a reason. I learned a lot on this car.

Re: wtb a cheap civic
I sent my friend to go look at a civic near LA 2 years ago. It's the DX in my sig. I trusted his *** because he supposedly knows stuff about cars. I called him up and ask if the car looks good, what condition it's in et cetera, and he convinced me to buy it. I paid 4500 for 90k. Had I been there, I wouldn't have paid more than 2500 because it needs a new trany, the radiator hoses and system were rusted out (but I saved it) due to water being put into the system rather than radiator fluid. Axle boots were about to split during the time. Front tires were down to their inner tread in the inside(!). One of the front shocks has the oil blown out of it and needs new shocks all around. The owner ran into something which hit the oil pan, dented it, sent the whole engine back which broke the left bracket so that the left torque mount wasn't even being used anymore, therefore engine was dangling on the left. I had to replace the oil pan gasket which was a semi-bitch. Needed a new timing belt at 110k.

Unlike your car though mine was in perfect condition with no known engine or suspension problems. I know have a broken axel boot I think as of now(when I turn hard right I hear a bunch of popping noises) and some paint is coming off in spots. Other than that I have not repaired one thing, 5k but it was def. a reliable purchase. Re: wtb a cheap civic
And thats why I still have it

Other than that I have not repaired one thing, 5k but it was def. a reliable purchase. There's this guy in my neighborhood who drives a really nice blue vtec 6th gen coupe. You know the type, with honda wheels and that special blue. So the first time I see this thing, I'm thinking "damn, nice vtec version." Then he takes off, and naturally he's got a custom exhaust on this thing.
Now don't get me wrong, having a custom exhaust doesn't mean you're rice, but it's like, why can't I see a vtec civic with a stock exhaust for a change? Wtf is wrong with being able to hear your own engine? It's that sheep mentality. No thinking required, just do it because everyone else thinks it's cool. And there's this annoying sexual quality about fat exhausts. I can't explain it, but they look like a sexual organ. Or maybe they just reminds me of an *** since it is the exhaust. I like nice exhausts, but not fat exhausts. Those are gross --those are a turnoff. It's vehicular prostitution.Fast forward a few months, and last week I see the car again. But something was different about the car this time. Oh yeah, now I remember. It looked like absolute ****. The air-for-brains added a custom "racer" front and rear bumper to the car (primered black of course). And I'm thinking, "As if this guy's so crack at racing that he needs the extra aero dynamics boost (which probably isn't even there). Like he's pushing that car right to the edge, and he needs that extra edge."
He thinks he's hella racer, but he's nothing but a young punk *** amateur wanna-be --a living symptom of the degradation of our society. Kinda like the rise of bad bacteria when the body is ill, to draw an analogy. What a shame though, because stock blue vtec's are becoming more and more scarse due to the ricer scene gobling them up. If you own one, preserve it! Keep it stock.Another civic ricerized is another civic down the drain I always say. Most likely, that civic will end up totaled from amatuer racing. As for aesthetics, there are good body kit mods out there and many people on this forum don't do botch jobs. But you need SKILLS and INTELLIGENCE to replace the excellent original designs of civics with one that is equaly excellent.
