Lock actuator problem, please help
I searched and installed the actuator according to the DIY.
So here is the deal
When the car door is open, the alarm will engage when I hit the button, but door won't lock. When the car door is close, the door will lock but the alarm won't engage.
I had the assembly and actuator a part for a good while trying to figure it out. Any ideas...Thanks.

Re: Lock actuator problem, please help
The drivers door stopped locking with the remote when I got back from vacation. I replaced the actuator today and it is opening and locking with the remote better. However, the alarm won't arm when the door is shut.
Re: Lock actuator problem, please help
maybe you had to do something with the alarm electronically if you replaced the actuator. you probably pulled the battery already so i have no idea. maybe something in the harness or even the immobilizer? hrm... since i have time on my hands, let me go google
Re: Lock actuator problem, please help
hrm, is there any valet mode type of deal with our EMII's? Or is there a circuit in the door panel or kick panel that got fried when changing the actuator that regulates to see if your door is closed or not? But now that i think about it, it wouldnt lock if the circuit/sensor was busted.

Re: Lock actuator problem, please help
There is a switch that senses the position for the drivers lock.
If you close the doors and push down the drivers lock **** do the doors lock ?

No, I have to pull the door handle. When I had the piece apart, it didn't seem to engage the the piece that pulls the door handle open so the door can lock. It's weird.

Re: Lock actuator problem, please help
So, You can lock the drivers door when it is open without pulling a handle ?? And you need to pull a handle when it's closed for it to lock ?? That is backwards from traditional.
Did you replace only the actuator assy or the entire latch assy ??

Re: Lock actuator problem, please help
Just the actuator. I have to pull the handle to lock it when the door is open. It will lock when the door is closed (even when I hit the alarm).
Why would I need to replace the latch assay too?

Re: Lock actuator problem, please help
Yeah, but I already installed the actuator without the lock assay. Why would I go buy the whole piece now? And the pic doesn't make it clear what is what...damnit..
