i have a 89 civic hatch and i went to my car and my battery was dead and its a new battery... so i noticed that the tail lights stay on even though i turn off the lights and i cant figure out why? can someone plz give me detailed help on some ideas on how to fix this cuz it wont hold a charge therefore i have no HONDA!!!

yeah someone here had the same problem. the brakes would be on even with the car off. its the switch.

Here's a question. Is it the the regular tail lights that stay on or the brake lights, like when you apply the brakes? I would have some1 step on the brakes and see witch light (tail or brakes) are staying on, then go from there. If its tail lights could be a faulty relay or switch. The switch is integrated in the light/blinker assembly attached to the steering column... look in your haynes repair manual or online source for replacement. If its a brake light check the switch that is located on the brake pedal assembly, again repair manual or online source. I doubt its a faulty wire, but then again you cant rule anything out till you check. Good luck with it.
