Unlock is lock and Lock is unlock.......

Ya... my 01 Honda Civic EX Coupe is being a bitch.
Just got in about a week ago, and could never figure out why my car wasn't locking.
WELL, I've got this lock/unlock button that is only on my driver side door, that when pressed, should lock and unlock both doors accordingly. It's unlocking and locking my passenger side just fine..... but not the driver side.
When I press the lock button, my door unlocks. And when I press the unlock button, my door tries to lock. It doesn't seem to "lock" all the way.

I'm trying to install an aftermarket car alarm, and well... the lock button on the keyfob does exactly what it should! But, it does not unlock either door.... so the alarm is going off every 30secs, even when I'm driving (unless of course I'm not touching the car... then the alarm is just waiting for something to set it off).

WTF is going on!?!?!?!? Can anyone at least help me figure out what's up with the reverse lock button thing?

-----------------------

UPDATE:
I fixed the "alarming every 30 seconds" problem.
But another problem I have, is my alarm needs to be hooked up to my door/switch, so it knows when a door is open. Where would I find the wires for that perhaps?

Re: Unlock is lock and Lock is unlock.......

try pulling the door handle on the inside of the car while trying to lock it, its a safety feature that should help prevent you from locking the keys in the car. As for the alarm thats a separate issue, but yeah the driver side door wont lock if its open unless you pull on the handle.

Re: Unlock is lock and Lock is unlock.......

if ur driver side door is locking and unlock and ur passenger side door is not, you might want to look into the door actuator as the problem

Re: Unlock is lock and Lock is unlock.......

You have 2 problems:

1. Your driver side door is not locking when you use the power locks.
2. Your alarm is activated when the car is turned on.

In reference to problem 1, I have the same issue. I have no idea why it does it but I really don't care either. My solution.......I unhooked the power locks so a thief wouldn't be able to use a coat hanger and open the door with them. Now I don't have to worry about why it does that. I never used that button for anything anyway.

In reference to problem 2, your alarm is installed wrong so take a look at it yourself or take it to an authorized dealer.

Re: Unlock is lock and Lock is unlock.......

Ya, I found out my ******* of a friend who installed it, decided not to put this one set of wires in...... because he couldn't understand it. SO.... the wires that should have been put it to tell the car a door is opened.... wasn't put in, which tells the alarm that the car hasn't even moved... thusly the car alarm goes off every 30 secs. Or at least that's all in theory. x.x
We're gonna see about redoing that set of wiring, and go from there.

Sounds like more than just a door trigger problem. I'd look into the ignition wire and if there is some sort of auto re-arm feature, turn it off.

Re: Unlock is lock and Lock is unlock.......

well, I looked at the sheet that shows the wiring of the keyless/remote start/alarm I got... and the set of wires my friend didn't put in has a few things it needs to connect to:
Wire #1: Car door, switch of engine top (Activating of Negative)
Wire #2: Power Window
Wire #3: Connect to Lock head "Key On" position (Activating of Positive)
Wire #4: Connect to the Relay (Negative Output)
Wire #5: Red foot brake (Positive Output)

My friend ran off on helping finish this job... SO anyone with alarm knowledge wanna come over and help? =D

Re: Unlock is lock and Lock is unlock.......

also... I know I ****ed up when I bought a cheap alarm system.... BUT here is the one I got on ebay...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=380010239837
I don't have an electronic trunk release, so that relay is sitting to the side for now...... BUT this thing is kinda confusing for me. I can wire a car stereo, just not something this complex. x.x halp?

Re: Unlock is lock and Lock is unlock.......

It's not complex, you should have a brain unit and a bunch of outputs coming out of it. All you do is hook a wire from the output you want to a relay. And then another wire from that relay to any unit in your car. Easy, if I was in the Phoenix area I'd come by.

Re: Unlock is lock and Lock is unlock.......

I'm not an alarm guru but I'd take a look around your ignition cylinder and see which wires are coming out of it. Use a voltimeter to find out which one's hot when the key is in the on position and splice into it.

Re: Unlock is lock and Lock is unlock.......

lol ya... we figured out most of it last night.... x.x lots of wiring we had to figure out, but me and my hubby did!
It solved our alarming every 30 secs problem..... Now I just need to see about getting the keyfob/alarm to unlock my doors, as well as sense when a door is opened..... x.x
Second one is easy enough, but the ulock part is something I have to go through and re-understand. I need to check and see if my friend even wired that correctly....... cuz neither door unlocks with the keyfob; they only lock... hahah

Re: Unlock is lock and Lock is unlock.......

Besides my car being in the shop for warranty repairs... I'm gonna be checking the unlock wiring out when I get her back by Friday...... I got some very good wiring info from a guy on the azht.net site (thanks rufus).

Lets hope I can still fix the problems......... x.x
