Battery relocation help!!
Battery relocation help!!
I would like to relocate the battery in my 2001 Civic EX to the trunk, so I can get some extra room under hood for some stuff i want to do... I know you have to use a heavy gage cable like a 4 ga ...i think.. and a fuse of some sort....
any info or insight on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Battery relocation help!!
this is all i did, probably a better solution but i've had zero problems.
cut the ring terminal off your positive wire, get more than enough power wire, 4ga would be fine, get an inline fuse block, hook it up to the positive you cut and your new wire, then just ground the battery in the trunk on a good spot. make sure you scuff the paint off so you have a good ground, and if you have some wire exposed on the fuse block ends, wrap some butyl around it or something else that will keep it waterproof and not exposed.

Re: Battery relocation help!!
I basically did the same thing but just ran my wire from where that positive battery cable tapped into the main harness. Either way it's the same concept.
It was really easy since I already had 4 ga. running to the trunk for my amp to begin with, plus the ground was already there as well.

Re: Battery relocation help!!
yeah, it's really an easy process. don't waste 120 bucks on a battery relocation kit pleeeeease. you'll kick yourself in the head afterwards. you can get a marine battery box that serves just fine for like 25 bucks at harbor freight.
