engine noise
i have a problem... my engine/ transmission today went on the fritz.... i was at a stoplight... car was running fine.. then as i accelerated... the car made a strange sound.... it sounds like the engine but like its an open engine running.... the car sounds... well... rice.... and i no its not an exhaust leak or anything... as it accelerates the noise enhances....
the noise is equivelently loud as the rpm that the car is at... as i change gears... the sound calms and then comes up as it accelerates....
the car only does this under throttle tho... and only in the forward position....
the car has acted fine since i had work done on it... a new clutch... excedy replacement... and i replaced the bearings in the transmission.... it seems like the car only does it under torque
if anyone has any info... please help me....

Re: engine noise
You dont have to lie to us... u know u bought an ebay muffler tip lmfao, just come clean lol just messing....
In all seriousness how do you know its not an exhaust leak or maybe manifold leak? If you have checked then nevermind, but to me that what it sounds like. ALso if your muffler went to **** then it would happen but then again mufflers dont just die lmao, also maybe ure cat failed... just all a bunch of possibilities

Re: engine noise
ehem ehem .. I have exactly the same problem on my 04 vp with just 42k miles on it .. the sound is audible only in first and 2nd gear. The only modification i have is an AEM V2.
Sometimes the problem gets fixed by itself... but now i feel it almost every day.. When i launch i can hear this certain grinding kind of noise which becomes louder with the rising rpm ... but after 4krpm it actually dies behind the intakes sound. and then i notice that same grinding kind of noise when i put the car in 2nd gear ... but i never hear it in the rest of the gears...
I know my clutch is dying .. or maybe its already on life support :-p so im guessing replacing the clutch and pressure plate wud fix my problem... Please keep me updated on this ... SUSCRIBED Foshizzle !!!

Re: engine noise
its not that the engine noise goes away.. it does it all the way to redline... louder than i can even run my radio... it also doesn't make the noise when the car is in nuetral or gliding.... it does it through all gears....i allready have a new clutch also with a new pilot and thow-out bearings .... the car has about 90,000 miles on it
Re: engine noise
sounds like a leak somewhere in the systeem.. or a crack somewhere.. either its a crack in the weld.. the header.. exhaust.. somewhere it broke or came loose.. check around the hangers cause those sometimes break into the exhaust pipe and make a hole

Re: engine noise
^^^^ More than likely an exhaust leak. As your car accelerates (moving, not standing still), you're putting load on the engine. This causes it to suck more air, drink more gas, and as a consequence, produce a larger amount of exhaust to reach the same RPM level than if you're just revving in neutral.
Sounds like a weld issue as the leak only shows itself when there is more exhaust to push out the *** end of your car.
