Stock Intake Issues... Quickie Help Please
Stock Intake Issues... Quickie Help Please
Hey I bought this Civic and the owners screwed me on the smog (I live in CA) Im going to have it fixed and give them a bill! Not the point though... I had to take off the aftermarket intake because it had no sticker on it. I got one from a pulling yard and it fit pretty well. There is an extra "snorkel" coming up from the lower skid plate section of the car... you can see it in the picture. Will they look at this at the smog shop and say no way? Can I just cut it off? It serves no purpose....

just remove it. its supposed to draw in air thats colder from the bumper, but in your case theres no pipe connecting to it. just pull it out.

i dont see how the previous owner screwed you buddy, you obviously opened the hood and saw the sri and should of talked about it before you bought the car, if you gave me a bill i would tell you to go **** your self, dont be suprised if they tell you that when you try to give them a bill

same here, you should have made him smog the car before you bought it if you had any questions on if it would pass. in cali the seller is responsible fot hte vehicle smog not the buyer

ust curious what trim package do u have? the way that thing works is air enters the tube, goes down under the car in this big box lookin thing then back up into the airbox to the engine. if you cut it off it will make ur filter get dirty faster due to road grime and dirt being able to enter from below instead of from inside the engine bay

Well ... buddy
Ive always driven classics and muscle cars so this is the first time in 14 years that ive EVER had to smog a car. I wasnt familiar with all the smog laws and cheapie honda intakes. I tossed that thing though, back to stock. Yeah I was thinking it could gunk up my filter... but as far as smog, is it ok being open like that? Or should I take it off? (cut it off)

I changed my exgirlfriends filter one time in her 6thgen and it was nothing like that.
