Voltage Regulator, where is?
Voltage Regulator, where is?
I'm burning through ignition coils every four months or so. Someone suggested it could be the voltage regulator. Any idea where it is and how to check? Second guess is I might need a distributor. Plug wires, igniter and grounding strap are all relatively new.

regulator is somewhere part of the alternator. i think if that was bad, you would have bigger problems. and i think your car doesnt have ignition coils, just wires? i dont get it
Re: Voltage Regulator, where is?
Oh, it has coils all right. I've replaced three of them. It's right on top of the distributor when you remove the cap.

If the coil is inside the distributor cap. Then you need to buy the cap that allows you to purchase a regular coil and mount it outside the cap. Then get a new ignition module. I think yours in going out. NOLOGY makes all the stuff you need to do this. Check them out.

Re: Voltage Regulator, where is?
sounds like you have poor connections to the plugs. if the spark doesnt go to the plug, it tries to arc inside the coil because it's the closest path to ground. too much of this blows the coil over time. id check the cap/rotor/plug gap.
