Quick cluster question.
I have an 04 dx, with side airbags. I'm looking at an 02 ex guage cluster. I understand that the 01-05 dx, and the 01-03 lx/ex, have the same plugs for the cluster. I also understand that the fact that my car doesn't have ABS may cause that light to come on with the new cluster. My question is, if i install this cluster from a car without side airbags, will it cause an issue in my car with them?? I can probably deal with a warning light being on in the dash, but i would prefer that my side airbags were still functional, in the event I need them. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Additionally, I know the mileage is stored in the cluster. Does anyone know if this info is stored on the circuit board, or within the little black part around the lcd odometer display?? would it be possible with a little soldering to swap the odometer display between clusters, if this is the case?? Has anyone actually tried that??

Re: Quick cluster question.
First off, I thought I read somewhere that the 03 had the 04/04 type cluster..?
Anyways, your gauge cluster doesnt control your air bags, your ECU does. As for the light on the dash- i'm sure when you break it apart you could mess with the light so it doesnt come through and illuminate the indicator.
As for your idea on the milage display- I like, pretty creative. Hopefully this might pan out.

Re: Quick cluster question.
i guess i could be wrong, but i swear all 5 years of 7th gen dx's had the same plugs as the 01-03 lx/ex. i'll have to look again.

Re: Quick cluster question.
^ yes 04/05 7thgen DX clusters have the same plugs/wire up and the 01-03 EX/LX Clusters.
If you plan to get an 02 EX Cluster, just swap that baby out. Mileage will be off though, unless you know the exact mileage and decide to wait...or something.
