Rep Power: 0 Break Lights Won't Turn Off.
I have a 94 civic hatchback cx and the break lights will not turn off. I pull the break pedal and it does nothing, the only way I can turn them off is to pull the 15 amp fuse under the hood. So if I don't pull the fuse my battery will go dead and I can't drive around with my break lights on all the time either. Please help.

Rep Power: 307 have you checked the pedal switch? have you ever modified your tail lights? do you happen to have a remote starter?

Rep Power: 0 They are the factory tail lights and I do not have a remote starter. I went out and checked the pedal switch. I pushed it in and messed with it and the lights are still on. How can I test to make sure that the pedal switch is the problem before I go buy one and install it and find out that it was not the problem? Thanks.

Rep Power: 222 I had a similar problem with my '84 Accord. I could not turn off the parking lights. Turned out that the circuitry inside the steering column overheated over time and a piece of solder fell off and shorted (actually completed) the parking light curcuit. I **** you not. For a while I installed a fuse tap and ran a second switch to the dash with an in-line fuse but then the lights stopped working altogether (the solder moved). When I opened up the steering column I saw what had happened and the dealer confirmed that it was common.
Anyways, just throwing that out there as a possibility.

Rep Power: 0 It was the pedal switch. Thanks to all of you who helped me out on my problem. It's nice to know there is a web site that I can come to for help. Once again thanks everyone for all your help, you saved me some money rather than going to the dealership. You guys are great.
