Rep Power: 0 Honda Genuine ATF or DexronIII?
This seems to be a difficult question to get a definite answer for!!
Most of you on here have 7th Gen Civics, I have a 92 LX. The transmission filler/dipstick says "Honda ATF - Dexron" right on the rubber stopper that the dipstick is in. The owners manual says Honda Premium Formula or Dexron II (which has been superceded by Dexron III now).
It appears the later trannys need the Honda Genuine, but would a 92 still need it?
Thanks in advance,
Bob

Rep Power: 275 Stick with the Honda stuff. That way you know it will work without problems. Plus its not much more expensive...

Stick with the genuine stuff...my brother filled his accord with some other tranny fluid since he was running low and was in the middle of no-where...he says he felt the difference and had to get a tranny flush.

Thanks to all who replied. seems the Honda Genuine wins hands down.
For anyone interested, www.alldiscountparts.com has Honda Genuine ATF-Z1 for $4.34 a quart, with a $10.95 shipping charge. If you buy a case, the shipping charge is the same.....
Don't fall for the $17.00 for 4 quarts on eBay, shipping is 53 bucks!!
Thanks again, everybody!!
