RSX 05 Leather conversion question of the nation!!! FOUND THE ANSWER BABY!

Ey guys.. well i just got a RSX 05 seat 2 days ago and susuking helped me out install them and all that. i would say everything went ok but one of the problems right now is my SRS light is on. I checked all the wiring and everything is hook up right.. its basically two sockets each seats (one yellow and one blue)and everything seems to be in well place. I did the DIY reset SRS (which iam very Familiar with since i converted my steering before)"blinks twice in the end and set the key off.. wait for 10 sec and ignition on " i did all that but the SRS light just stays on... i was wondering if you guys can help me out or give me a tip or two.

btw, on the passenger side, the airbag seat is blown (05 rsx seats have side airbags so yea) but i highly doubt that its that unless there's something i dont know that you guys know... should i just put a resistor thingy?? if so, what kind of resistor should i get? what watts and stuff?

thanks guys!

Does your car have side airbags stock? If so and the passenger airbag is blown then yes you should get a replacement bag ($$$$$$$$!) or just pop a resistor in there, 2Ohm, 2watt is the generally used spec. This DIY from ClubRSX may help:

WAAAA TELLY thanks, you've always helped me out from steering wheel swap to seats lol. well i highly doubt i have an Airbag on my stock seats... but for some odd reason, there's TWO sockets, one yellow and one blue and which connects on the RSX seats perfectly.... now my question is, where's the RSX airbag SOCKET????? but yea definitely, i will do the Resistor thingy tonight but where can i get these? on radio shack right? and do i put a resistor on each socket??? (coming from my car has two sockets blue and yellow). thanks!!

Well if you don't have an airbag on your stock seats then it doesn't matter if you connect the RSX side airbags or not, the system doesn't need a side airbag and won't be looking for it. If that's the case then you really need to worry about your other SRS components. There should be a seatbelt sensor as well, is one of the plugs on each seat coming from that?

yea, there's two socket, the yellow one and the gray or blue one aswell.. the yellow is more of like a bigger socket than the gray one, so basically, the one thats coming from my car which is yellow and gray one fits perfectly on those sockets on the seats. now, iam really confuse why there's two sockets in the first place, why is that? i dont even have stock airbag!! i guess i should go for the resistor install.

OK now I'm confused. I could have sworn you added me on MSN so if you did hit me up there.

As long as everything coming from the CAR is plugged into the seat, it doesn't matter if anything on the SEAT is unplugged. Try the SRS killer trick again (and again and again, LOL). Hit me on MSN and we can discuss more.

those sockets are probally for your seatbelt pretensioner and i would guess a sensor. But I would def. get it checked out by a tech. As long as the srs light is on no airbags will operate or srs components will operate. Most cars have a weight sensor in the seats to tell the srs module how fast to deploy the airbag during a crash. Im not sure bout the system on the civic i havent looked into it!.

SO do you have Side airbags or not? If not, then you are in the same situation I am in. I dont have the side bags and the SRS light is still on. Im almost sure its the seat belt pretensioner sensor (as SOHC said) gone dead. Im gonna try to replace it and see what happens but for now, I have the angry red SRS light on the whole time.

OK I finally checked your profile, you have an LX which (I THINK) means your car didn't come stock with side airbags but they're optional. Check your old seats and see if the side airbag plate is on each of them. If you DO have side airbags on your old seats and the RSX passenger seat bag is blown, then no matter how many times you do the SRS reset you will not be able to get rid of the light. If that's the case then you do need to do the resistor trick. Also I know it's a longshot but I seem to remember you replacing your steering wheel, if so check that connector again, just to be safe.

After I'd installed my EP3 seats (with no side airbags) and used resistors on my car's side airbag plugs to kill the SRS light, the light came back on after about 6 month. Repeated attempts to kill the SRS light didn't work, it would flash and turn off but as soon as I turned the car on again it would come back on. Turned out the resistor on the passenger side airbag plug had died, once replaced I ran the SRS kill procedure again and it turned off on the first try. Hasn't come back since, but I do check under the seats when I clean the interior and make sure those resistors are in nice and solid.

Can you take a pic of how you have everything plugged in? Finally answer one more question - did you disconnect the battery before doing the seat replacement?

In the Civic/RSX/EL there is only such a sensor on the passenger seat. It disables side SRS (and the little YELLOW light in the dash turns on) if there's weight on the seat bottom but not a lot on the seat back.

Just for clarification ALL OF THE SRS PLUGS ARE YELLOW AND THE WIRES ARE IN YELLOW LUME. I hope this helps. Even the non side air bag civics will have yellow plugs under the seat. This plug is to sense how much weight is in the seat. For example if there is only a little, like a baby seat then the air bag will not deploy if there is a lot like a person it will. If there is a person setting in the seat while you are driving and they are jumping up and down or getting up and turning around to talk to someone in the back. This will confuse the sensor and will cause the light to turn on also.

I highly doubt it that my stock seats comes with airbag and to top it off, iam LX so i guess that confirms it. I just took some pics (which i never posted pics of my car here in 7thgen, i mean civcforums.. so here's the SNeak Peek) so i hope you guys can help me out here. thanks for the replies peepz.

Sneak Peek lol!

this wires is coming from my car, yellow and blue (duh!)

this pic is from RSX socket, there's too many of em.. the biggest one is for bose amplifier which i got with the seat hehehe

this is another angle which consist of 4 socket coming from rsx seats... i think the far one to the right is for the heater (which i need to discover how to hook all of this ish)

Pare you still haven't answered my question - did you disconnect the battery while installing the seats? Also are you POSITIVE you don't have side SRS on your stock seats? I checked hondaautomotiveparts.com and found in the states that the LX has side airbags available as an option. Can you check your stock seats and make sure there AREN'T airbag cover plates on the side of each seat closest to the door?

WHY? If you don't have an airbag in your OEM seats, it won't make a difference. Seriously try the SRS reset again.
