no u dont have to take off the bumper. you first unbolt the heat sheild then the header itself. take off the gasket then install the new gasket and the hearder then bolt it on. your done

The DC is a 4-1, not 4-2-1. Anyway, I just did this mod last weekend and it's not that bad. The only problem I had was getting one of the heat shield screws off. Those bolts were on tight! After that, no problems at all. Jack the car up from the front, put your jack stands in place and you're ready to go.

Call DC and ask them, it's a 4-1. It's advertised all over the Internet as 4-2-1 but it is only available in a 4-1. That's been posted on this forum numerous times as well.

Three places I called when I was looking for the best price told me it was a two piece header also. Then they would give me the part number and it would be the same part number for the one piece 4-1 header. I finally stayed on hold forever and talked to someone at DC, and was told the only headers available for the 2001 Honda Civic EX are the ceramic & stainless one piece 4-1 header, upper piece only. The part numbers are 5019C for ceramic or 5019S for stainless.

Now I'm just a weekend newbie mechanic so I'm no expert on performance modifications. I have the ss header in combination with the AEM CAI and the Magnaflow exhaust. This combination works great for me, of course it sounds nice for staters and I realize the extra gain throughout the entire range but most definitely when I get up around 50 & higher.
