splicing the + and - to the 12v adapater

my civic does not have the cig lighter but does have the 12v source which can be used to hook in my phone charger/radar detectors/etc.
i want to run 2 neon tubes to my 12v source. both tubes have their own plug-in adapater which will require me splicing the + and - together. i will splice the wires from both tubes and crimp it to ONE cig lighter adapter which will be used to plug into the 12v source. id like to know if this is perfectly safe? are their any drawbacks or possbile the tubes will blow overtime?

here is the instructions for the tube: http://streetglow.com/products/instructions/an.pdf

I dont think 2 nean lights are going to hold up on a 12v accessory circuit. those 2 tubes probably draw more amps then the circuit is rated for. you need to find out the current draw of both.

I would say run it directly to the battery, but install a switch in the circuit so you can turn them on and off as you want.

xylamic is an unknown quantity at this point
It'll work fine. If the fuse blows, go to a higher fuse rating. (IE, if it's a 10 amp fuse that blows, go to 20 amp)

D3xn2o has a little shameless behaviour in the past
if you put a 20 amp in a circuit for a 10 amp..... you might umm well melt wires.... Just run power and grounds 2 the battery...... and put a relay to the Cig lighter... it will work as a switch..... there's only power there when the ignition is on so its a little work but no switchs they turn on by them self when the car is running best way 2 go

Just by a stereo harness and run from the switched/power/ground wires in that.

you obviously dont understand what fuses are used for.

you are basically saying "its ok to melt your wires".

Jesus Christ people, the hookup is simple. Run a wire from the + terminal of the battery to inside the car. Then use a grounding point somewhere's in the vehicle for the - side. Be sure to find out what the amperage rating for the two lights will be, and install a fuse that's appropriate. Hookup the fuse inline with the +12v wire inside the enginebay. You can either use a relay setup to turn the lights on and off when the car turns on and off. You could tap into the ACC wire comming of your aftermarket CD player (the blue wire to turn on your amps) or use it off another ACC (accessory) wire such as the 12V socket or your stereo. There is even a fuse in the fuse box marked ACC that you could tap into (just do it from behind the fuse box, not wrapped around the fuse itself!!!) Or you could hookup a switch inline with the +12v wire you ran into the engine bay. That would be the easiest and you would be able to turn the lights on and off when you'd like, and even have them on when the car is not started.
