bumper grinding
bumper grinding
ok guys, im gonna do some grinding on the steel bar that is my actual bumper... now i know the airbag sensors are somewhere in there, im gonna some hefty modifications to this thing... IE: grinding/shaving it hardcore, taking a BFH = Big F*ckin Hammer to it. should i be concerned about the airbags suddenly deployin cuz im tampering with this thing? again, its the steel bar behind the bumper cover. thanks
Call your insurance company and the police to get the legalities of modifying your bumper before doing it. Soon we'll see another post....
"this ******* cop gave me a ticket for my bumper, why does he have to be such an *******?"
or
"I broke every bone in my body from an accident and my insurance company won't give me a dime. What a bunch of *******s."

interesting point... but no im grinding not for cosmetic purposes rather after my minor accident the metal on the reinforcement bar is sticking out thru a hole in the bumper cover. new bumper cover won't fit over it, thus im having to shave/pound it back so it will fit. its on the passenger side corner, it appears as tho the very end of the reienforcement bar just got tweaked, its rusted pretty good cuz the metal has been out in the open for quiet awhile, hopefully this will make it easier. im just worried that some kind of sensor will be set off, because as far as i know extreme short pressure hits on that bar will trigger them, although i don't think i can produce close to the amount of pressure from my BFH than an actual collision involving airbags. but i was wondering if anyone knew where the sensors are and how easily they are triggered.
