i took out the resinator in my car today and it sound bad @$$. i was wondering if i leave it like this would my air filter get dirtier faster and would i need a new filter to maintain my engine. does k&n make a filter for a 2k2 civic.

it shouldn't affect your current filter. and no, K&N does not make a drop-in filter for our cars

its a little bit more dirty than normal, but not that bad, as far as sound.........u might find it annoying after a while, thats y i put it back after 2 months

macross: Hey man, did you install an after market resinator or the factory? How did it sound? When I had the factory resinator without the 2 1.4 mid pipe, I hardly heard any sound whatsoever...

resOnator confusion detected.....

there are two seperate ones, one is before the stock airbox and one is on the exhaust system between the cat and the muffler, they both are there to quiet sound.....


as far as removing the air resOnator, why not just purchase a SRI? even a cheap ebay sri will perform better than the stock airbox...

I think you lose torque when u yank it out. why? I'm sick of explaining it.. and my reason is probably wrong anyways. lol.

just see if you feel any difference.. or see if you can reach your top speed anymore.

I agree with avenger, get you a cheap SRI or go with a name brand like AEM. Either will be better then ghetto rigging your stock air box and getting crappy results.....

capyoda.. given the cold crisp weather in bc right now.. i hit 180kph with my civic dx.. no engine mods beside the resonator removal. i've had the resonator off for quite some time now.. so my ecu may have compensated for it by now without resetting it. iono tho.. haha.. it didn't struggle at that point either.. i knwo for a fact that my speed limiter would kick in at about 175kph, but for that stretch.. i had eternal bliss from defeating it and topping it. haha.


anyhoo.. removing the resonator doesn't make you faster... plus you really have to gas it up hills unless you have momentum on your side. for any real hp/tq gains.. gotta get an sri or cai.

I just had mine removed tonight and it sounds great with my muffler and I hear my intake much better.
