exhaust hurting performance!?

Ok, I got a custom exhaust put on my car at a shop here in Memphis. It sounds good, until it gets all buzzy if u floor it in first. Well, since I put my exhaust on, my frind with a kia is nearly beating me! with the stock exhaust i was killin him. WTF! Is this possible, what should i do! or is this merely a figment of my imagination?

first of all, did you get a bigger diameter piping?.... if you did that lets too much air to go out of the rear pipe and you'll lose low end torque. and second of all, your bigger piping will add weight... not much, but i think it would make a little difference. if you don't have a custom intake.. then i wouldn't recommend to get a custom extaust.

what is the diameter of the piping? 2.5" or <, maybe?
Do you have any or either headers or intake?

dudes right, with most axel and catback exhausts you loose low rpm hp and torque. top end is where you get your additional power. drive w/ a lead foot. you'll be fine.

might want to reset the ECU. sometimes that helps, but I think that is more for if you add an intake. it couldn't hurt.

axelbacks dont lose or gain, they're too far down the line to make a difference....

Ok, another question. Is the buzzing sound hurting my performance? What I mean, is the exhaust down there just kinda tryin to shoot back up the pipe like a backpressure in the upper rpms sorta? Or is it fine?

nah, you don't need to reset, just drive about 200 miles, the ecu gets reprogrammed with distance "my cpu is a neronet processor, a learning computa" (arnold)
