I know we talked about it in another thread but I was wondering if anyone actually did this yet? I have to have my dad weld a bracket on my CAI cause it broke off so I was going to have him cut and weld my shifter too instead of buying a short throw one. Here is a crappy drawing of what I am talking about. Cutting shifter

Cut the shifter..I cut 2.5inches off mine now.. DO not weld it back..it's white metal.. the weld won't hold up well..just cut it.. get an aftermarket shiftknob that will fit a 12mm shaft.. You're all set.. 20 minutes work.

Not all have set screws.. most do though.. Mine has a pressure fit ring and a top screw [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/IMG]...

And with the pressure ring or set screw, they hold pretty good? Thanks! I am getting excited knowing I won't have to weld now. Can't wait for the warmer weather to get here so I can begin to cut! Will be the cheapest and easiest mod so far!

well I couldn't get mine off right now if I wanted to lol... Cut it when it;s cold.. the metals more rigid and cuts better [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/IMG] Just hack it off about 1/2" below where the screw threads end.. Mine's a bit shorter..but that might be a bit extreme for you [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/IMG]

Yup..if you spend the $85 on a Neuspeed of DC Short Shift adapter you'll be amazed at how short the throw gets...

I have a short shifter adp. from dc sports . is it really worth cutting it?????? do you have an adp.

I cut mine down and rethreaded it cause my aftermarket shifter does kits to make it screw on so I have a shortened shifter and an adapter.
