Glow Pedals

i just picked up a pair of glow pedals and got them installed and they worked fine on the first try. then i noticed that after about 15 minutes my car was idling real low (400 rpms) and then
the gauges flickered and went out. i noticed that at one place some of the insulation around the wire going from battery to switch was scratched off exposing the wire, so this was draining my
battery i know, but now i rewired everything that those damn things wont work. im not a real pro when it comes to wiring, so i was wondering if the actual pedals are fried now or what is
going on. any one have those glow pedals or have any ideas? im sure some one is going to give me hell or asking this question but oh well.

edit - also before they died they were making this real high pitched noise

Try taking the pedals off and hooking them to the battery to see if they still work.
If they do then recheck the wires running from the pedals to the battery to find the problem

Good Luck

OOOOKKKKK!!!!!!...a 2 foot spoiler...considerably rice since it is 2 foot serves little purpose unless ur pushin more than 400hp.; bodykit....looks great, not rice, and is definitely better than the stock look of a civic.; fire extinguisher without NOS(nitrous would be a better way to put it), having a fire extinguisher will not help you out much if your nitrous tank exploded or set something on fire, since nitrous burns a lot faster than gasoline. You might have made yourself look stupider than the guy before you who said your glow pedals are rice.

As for the glow pedals, I have a set, and I get compliments all of the time. There has never been one complaint about them, such as calling them rice. I have been having my pedals on for at least 3 months and they work great. They do make a little noise if you get close to them, because I had to disconnect the clutch when the backing peeled from hittin the clutch hard and fast. I don't know what you did wrong. I wired mine to my radio fuse, and grounded them to a screw inside the car, near the pedals.

eProdigy ---> Rice doesn't have to be ALL of what you said. Glow Pedals = RICE. Also if they're causing problems like that, it sounds like it'd just be better for your car if you just got rid of them anyways.

cause it lights up, it is rice? I know its your own opinion, but i hate hearing it. And its not the pedals that are faulty, its whoever installed them wrong, or not good enough to work. Don't call them rice just cause this guy's set is malfunctioning. Like I said earlier, mine are working fine for 3 months with no signs of problems, except for the clutch, which has too do with the way I drive. Any other colored , or glowing, pedal would have done the same under my condition...............my 2 F'n cents

I didn't call it rice because it malfunctioned. I called it rice because it's exactly that, RICE That along with all that other light up crap... winshield wiper sprayers, lights under the car, lights that spin around your rims, wings (unless they're oem), altezza's and tons of other crap. But like you said this is my opinion; however I do share this opinion with MANY other people.

Look guys....this is just pissin me off. I'm tired about hearing whats rice and whats not. Prodigy, don't listen to any body if you don't want to. It's all about your personal style. I have had people try and tell me about every car I've built. I've built lowriders, hot rods, and imports. My civic is car number 16 for me, and I've had a few show winners, and a few cars that literally attract small crowds at the grocery store. On all of these cars I have had parts that fall to criticism from other people. On my lowrider I had 18 chrome 180 d's, and I was getting criticism from guys rollin on 14's. Whatever! Hey, I've got civic type-r seat belt pads...anyone wanna call it rice? Who cares, they were a gift from my mom from when she went to japan. They wouldn't have been my first choice, but hey, I put them on because my mom got them for me and it was a nice thought. I've got a 72 challenger with a 450 hp 318. No one builds a 318, everyone builds 340, 383, 440, etc. I don't care what they say. Anyway, had to get that off my chest. To many people on this forum who have to many damn "right" opinions. I've been building cars for 7 years, and 90% of people think they are really trick, so I say screw the other 10%.

So, as far as the answer goes. Did you use a fuse when you hooked up the pedals to the battery? Maybe you fried them internally if you didn't. Double check your ground, and if you hooked them up through the firewall double check to make sure that the insulation on the wire is still all there. Check all of the simple solutions first. I agree that you could test it out by hooking it up directly to the battery, but make sure you have an inline fuse. You could also chop the wires and use a hot test light to see if you're still getting power. My opinion would be to hook these up through the fuse box.

I agree, if you like it and you don't think it's rice than do it, don't listen to what other people say.

2 foot spoiler is Rice..

By Definition Rice is adding unfitted parts, unpainted or poorly installed body kits. tripple decker spoilers.... To most die hard Domestic fans drivign a civic with exhaust is total Rice.. Rice is a word ignorant folks use to describe something they may not like.. If you don't like.. who gives a flying F&%K.. it's not yours..you don't have to drive it.. the dude driving it likes it.. so long as everything is done porperly (Barrign LED Exhausts) it's all good ..Hell isn;t that what car customization is all about.. isn't that why you drive a civic in the first place.. cause it's a nice car that you can customize?....

RICE= A Word For those too inarticulate to come up with an intelligent comment any given part which they do not like. It's like calling everythign stupid.. or dumb... when asked why something is rice.. they answer.. "cause it is".. hmm Crappy arguement.. Unless you can back up your statement with an intelligent arguement.. Shut the F*%K UP!!

Cheers

you didn't seem to give a f*ck when someone else called it rice. ya, thats right I DON'T like it. I bought a Honda for several reasons, the first and foremost is that they last for a long time, with minimal problems. My mom had an accord for 12 years and the only problem was the a/c didn't work anymore. I also chose a Honda to modify with PERFORMANCE parts. Rice is just a common term, and yes I'll agree maybe over used. But the most of the things people classify as rice are usually useless parts. The things that I personally classify as rice do nothing except draw attention to the car, and usually it's negative attention(at least where I live). Maybe if it served some kind of purpose I would have a different opinion.

To those I may have offended, I'm sorry. I usually don't say anything to people who have things that I may not like. I had a million things going on at once. Please excuse me on this one. I'll keep my opinions like that to myself.

And to eProdigy I only said maybe it's better to take them off, because it seems to be causing problems for your car. Thats all. Or maybe you just got some that were defective. Good luck with getting them to work.

I agree with ripper.
Just test the power supply to the pedals. I've had mine on for several months and haven't had any problems out of them.

This "rice" thing is getting ridiculous... I say, do your car the way you want to!! If you want to make your car look fast but really you have stock under that hood, it's you that's gonna pay. But that's what happens if you only care about your looks, but as long as you don't care and you like your car, I say... good for you. Just don't rev your your stock engine with your "performance" muffler when you pull up beside me. Cause that's when I say.......LATER!!!!!

first...he wants an answer and not some criticism...
i didn't know that those pedals require an inverter and i don't think they do at all...imo...try disconnecting the pedals first and then check the console to see if its working...otherwise i think the fuse might be blown...second...check to see if the pedals are working or not...tap it to the cig light supply...(careful since it can only supply 10A but that should be more than enough)...if it works then i believe its just a matter of pulling too much current through the fuse of the light console therefore you need a relay to route the power another way...
