Cam for Dx?
Hey I'm a newbie around here so please bear with me if I ask some questions that should be common knowledge. Also I don't have a 2k1 civic but rather a 97. I can't seem to find any forums that are any decent besides this one. You guys seem to have your act together and know what your talking about. Hopefully I can stick around.
Okay I was reading in another thread about a cam that you could purchase to drop into your Civic that would wield a fairly decent HP gain depending on the model. Having a DX I am really lacking in the "Get Up and Go" department. I know my car is never gonna be a "challenge" to some of the racers out there, I just wanna be able to get from A to B a bit easier. So is there something I can do in the CAM department and which one is suggested? Links would be great too if anyone has some.
Thanks a Ton.

Getting a replacment cam will help, but only to a limited extent. It will give you the most power gains if you got a bunch of other mods done on your car. Since your car is a 97, I would recommend researching turbo kits to get REAL hp gains out of your car. Good luck. Oh and try going to http://www.honda-tech.com

I got to take my car to the track. I got and EX and I know you have a DX, I think the main difference is the final drive, or differential and the compression ratio. I dont think there's too much difference with or without a vtec. But I know a smaller tire diameter and and worked heads will do it!
So far, I can keep up with a stock 99SI but my next target is a 2001 prelude

Thanks for the replies guys. Right now all I have is a Pacesetter catback as far bolton parts go. I love the tone I get out of it, but it's not holding up very well. Seems to be missing some hangers. I think I am gonna pull that off and get something else, along with an AEM CAI. Hopefully with that going down through the fender well and out of the engine I can get some fresh air and actually benefit my engine rather than hurt it sucking up the hot stuff. I'd like to get a set of headers as well but having a DX, the exhaust manifold is so small because the Cat litterally sit right against the Engine. I bet from the Engine to the cat, the manifold is about a foot long.
After those three I'll look into a cam and maybe that will help more then.
Thanks again.
