How do you wire extra speakers?
Hey, I bought a bought a speaker housing with 2 subs and 2 tweeters installed and it has 2 pairs of speaker terminals (negative & positive) and I know what they are for but I just don't know how to add them, and keeping the existing speakers and keeping the the stock cassette stereo...? How do I do it? Please help! Thanks!

Can't I drive without an amp? I mean it's only 2 6.5" subs. And each sub has a speaker terminal which is positive and negative polarity holes... Uh, do you get me... LoL.

they're not subs, they're woofers, and you probably won't need an amp to drive them. if they're 6.5", there is no way they could be a subwoofer. so what you have is a component system that you want to wire in so that you have more than 4 channels?

there are four kinds of speakers that produce the corresponding sounds. tweeters are high end, mid ranges reproduce mid-range frequencies (go figure), woofers produce lower end sounds, and subwoofers produce low frequencies that woofers can't reproduce. that's the reason they're called SUBwoofers. typically people get subs to fill out the entire frequency range, or they just get them to be loud. either way works. now, two way component systems (what you have) have a woofer and tweeter. having them separate makes for better sound quality. three way component systems also have a mid range thrown in there.

Thanks for the info AFlyer. But my main question hasn't been answered. How can I hook up the component without an amp and keeping the existing speakers and stereo?

did your component system (your 2 6.5" woofers and your tweeters) come with crossovers? if so, you connect a woofer and a tweeter to each crossover (there should be 2 crossovers, in most cases), and each crossover connects to the existing Left & Right channel (each channel will have + and - teminals) speaker wires coming from your HU.
does that help?
does that help?
From an installers perspective.... just take your stereo to a shop like Circuit City so you don't fuddy anything up.....
I hope you are not planning to put this setup in your trunk, It would make the sound muffled (like a$$). Anyways... I'd probably sell them and get asome components speakers for the front doors.
Use this link to Crutchfield.com to understand better.... (You might want to order one of their mags. their full of info. to help you out)

Whoa! Thanks fer the info! But I think I just answered my own question. LoL. But infos that are posted here are gladly appreciated. Well I got it hooked up without sacrificing any speakers, and the buying a new HU or an amp. And I didn't even connect it to the HU. I basically hooked it up by using the wires from the rear speakers. I was surprised that it werked. Anyway, thanks again!
