Wiring HID help!

I bought a HID kit from autolamps.com and I had to modify the wiring for the h4 connector that came with the kit to work. The h4 connector that came with the kit plugs right into the stock light wiring harness. Everything was working until I accidentally hit the high beam, this caused both left and right headlight fuses to blow. Should I change the fuses to a higher amp rating? or should I just unplug the high beam relay so I don't accidentally hit the high beam anymore?

Thanks

I would find a way to either pull out the stock fuse for the high beams, or find a way to connect your stock H4 harness to the HID harness. You don't want to be blowing your headlight fuses each time you accidentally hit your high beam switch.

Whne I hooked up my HIDs, I didn't connect the high beam lead on the stock H4 harness at all.

Which is high beam and which is low. A, B or C. I know only two of theses is used to wire to the HID relay and they are paired together into the relay. I get pics of my HID kit soon.

Thanks for the info so far and I'm going to have more questions soon.

On your stock H4 harness, you have 3 wires goin in, all are red, with a colored stripe. On your pic, the "A" is connected to a white/red wire, and that is your ground. The "B" should be connected to the blue/red wire and that is your high beam. "C" is yellow/red and that is your low beam.

Sorry for all these questions. So only the ground and the low beam leads should be connected to the relay?

i don't think it's a good idea for u to install HID in high beam, coz you r using that TYC projector rite ?
HID takes time to light up... and how many times r u going to need it.. probably only sometimes to flash incoming driver (warning them for road block... etc) so actually HID won't be much use in high beam, unless you have the bi-xenon projector, the kind of projector that hella is developing now... it can adjust the lens to produce high/low beam.
so my suggestion is to keep using your normal bulb.......
btw... i like those TYC projector... planning on getting one for my ride as well.... but i guess i'll have to find a body shop that can do some modification to my front body panel... so that a civic headlight can go in there.

I email the techs at autolamps and this is wnat they said:

The H4 connector that you have on the harness
plugs into the H4 connector on your car which normally fit to the back of
the halogen bulb. In this connector on your car you have 2 positive
connections and 1 earth. You should have one connector which goes live when
you turn on the low beam and the other becomes positive when you turn on the
High beam. These positives are both wired to switch the relay. This should
mean that when you turn on your low beam the HID should come on. When you
switch to the main or high beam the HID should stay on. It sounds as though
these contacts are not correct.

Please check the contacts and when they become positive on your halogen
connector. You should have one and one and the third is always the ground or
earth. On the harness to the relay 2 of the connectors are wired the 3rd
connector is simply a wire which does not reach the relay
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

According to this they want me to wire both low beam leads and high beam leads to the relay. I think thats how it was the first place but nothing would come on. I give it another try.

Thanks

Those of you with HIDs, what happends when you hit your high beam? Does it turn off, Flicker, or just stay on? According to the directions I got from autolamps, wiring both the high beam lead and low beam lead to the relay will keep the light on when the high beam is activated. This is the way I wired it but that is what is causing my fuses to blow everytime I activate the high beam. Let me get this straight, all I need is one positive lead (low beam) connected to the relay and thats it. I know asked alot of questions but I just wanted to understand how everything works!

Thanks again for your guys help

You are blowing the fuses cause when you activate the high beams you are running 24V through the fuse instead of the normal 12V from just the low beams. You should just have one 12V lead from the low beams and hte ground hooked up, dont bother with the high beam lead at all.
