vafc
vafc
Is it worth it getting a vtec controller? Any substantial gains to it. I live in a somewhat rural area of north bay new york. Syracuse is about 45 min away. And that would be the closest place to me with a dyno. Im going to guess that if you dont have easy acess to a dyno then it probably wouldnt be a good investment. But, im looking for some opinions.
i have a vafc on my 98 ex......never had it dynoed.....just don't go too outragious with the self tuning...
and definetly ...definetly ...get a Air/fuel gauge...to see if your running too rich or too lean...

I'm also not sure to get one or not. I use a 2001 Civic. I have a K&N short ram air filter and a direct flow muffler as mod. If I get a vafc, will it help increase some hp? Or does it help only to customise the RPM range for different types of driving?
yea i have one....it doesn't really increase horsepower....
just the faster your car revs......because Vtec engages at an earlier RPM
without it...i ran a 15.9 @ 86mph....
with it....(engaging @ 3000 rpm) ...i ran a 15.3 @ 91
and i've just got bolt ons.....
having it come at for normal driving
@ 4800 rpm...i ran a 15.5 @ 87
so i would say get it if you want...
but its not gonna drop you a second or 2....
just ask some questions...and i'll fill you in

three people i know got 10whp from IHE mods and tuning the wide throttle for a manual car. so yea its worth it and has good features. you only have to tune it once unless you change something big on the car. its not a good idea to adjust the vtec point because of the way our engine works.

vafcI is the old model with less features and doesn't work with our engine. vafcII is newer and works with our updated wire diagram. Changes vtec point and add/subtract fuel as well as engine monitor. Other alternatives are greddy emanage (similar but more features for turbo like injector controls), AEM EMS (full standalone ecu), and JET chip (modified factory ecu dependent on mods).
